Are you committed to building a sustainable and equitable future? As a transition specialist at Squarewise, you’ll help organizations accelerate their transitions. You’ll work with a wide range of partners, from municipalities, provinces, and research institutions to startups and local entrepreneurs. Do you enjoy bridging the gap between practical, hands-on solutions and strategic oversight at the systemic level? And does working in a self-managing team appeal to you? Our team in Arnhem is looking for a new colleague who can start in September.
We are actively seeking to bring diversity and new perspectives to our team. Only with a rich array of experiences and backgrounds can we build truly equitable and inclusive transitions.
Squarewise is a transition agency that helps shape the new world. Our team of passionate professionals works on sustainable solutions for social issues, such as the agricultural transition and the circular economy, as well as comprehensive initiatives related to energy, materials, and new ways of organizing. Out of love for the planet, with a focus on society. We create sustainable visions, connect the right parties in new partnerships, experiment to explore the unknown, and, as a social enterprise, serve as an example of the changes we envision.
Squarewise is a self-managed social enterprise. This means we don’t have a board of directors and make decisions collectively based on equality and trust. In this video, you can see how our self-managed organization works. In addition to working on projects, everyone—including you as a new transition maker—plays an active role within Squarewise’s internal organization.
We have two offices: one in Amsterdam and one in Arnhem. Both teams operate independently, and collaborate when necessary. You will be based in Arnhem. At this location, the focus is on integrated area development—both in urban and rural areas—with an emphasis on bio-based solutions, agriculture, and creating new value.
Check out our projects page or our 2024 impact report for examples of our work.
You’ll dive right into various projects, leveraging your existing network, knowledge, and experience to accelerate the transition to sustainability. You navigate a complex and rapidly changing landscape with ease. And you switch seamlessly between different roles and tasks, such as: project lead, community manager, strategic contributor, and strategic advisor.
Examples of assignments:
In addition, you will contribute to internal and external knowledge sharing and mentor the junior staff members you work with.
Are you unsure whether you meet all the requirements, but feel like you’re a great fit? Then we encourage you to apply! We’re actively seeking to bring diversity and new perspectives to our team.
Please send your resume and a cover letter (in writing or in any other format that works for you) explaining how you would contribute to the diversity of our team and what a sustainable and equitable world means to you.
We conduct our hiring process anonymously, so please do not include your name or photo in your resume or cover letter. Your application will be processed by a staff member who has no influence over the rest of the hiring process.
If you need help with the application process or have any questions, please let us know. We’re happy to assist you.
