Are you a graphic designer specializing in textile printing? And do you enjoy sharing your knowledge with students by inspiring and guiding them through their creative process and research into new applications of existing techniques? Then we’re looking for you!
With over 4,000 students, HKU is the largest university of the arts in the Netherlands and one of the largest educational institutions in Europe focused on art, culture, and the creative industries. HKU offers a wide range of programs across nine schools.
HKU exists because creating art offers new perspectives, inspires thought-provoking interactions, and thereby gives shape and meaning to society and the challenges it faces. Our HKU campuses feature professional studios where students bring their ideas to life under the guidance of studio staff.
The “Texspace” Textile Workshop is located on the IBB-laan campus and consists of two production areas: Texspace Print and Texspace Construction. Students from various HKU programs can carry out (interdisciplinary) textile projects here. At Texspace Print, the focus is on textile processing. Students can experiment with various analog and digital printing and dyeing techniques, such as screen printing, sublimation, foil printing, block printing, cyanotype, and batik. They can also dye fabric, make their own inks (using natural pigments), cut-and-plot, and tufting.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Simon Burer, Head/Coordinator of the IBB and Pastoe workshops, at simon.burer@hku.nl. Please use this email address exclusively for asking questions.
Applications will be accepted through Wednesday, November 5. The first round of interviews will take place during the week of November 9.
This position is being advertised both internally and externally. In our selection process, we recognize the value that diversity brings to our organization. We do not welcome unsolicited recruitment efforts regarding this position.
