Technical Support Specialist

What you will be doing

Together with your colleagues in the Technical Services Department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and maintenance of three historic buildings in the heart of Amsterdam: De Nieuwe Kerk on Dam Square, the H’ART Museum on the Amstel River, and the Neerlandia building, which is adjacent to the H’ART Museum. Each building has its own unique characteristics and associated challenges. That’s why no two days on the job are ever the same. What will your day-to-day work involve?

• You will inspect the technical condition of the sites and perform minor maintenance on a daily basis
• You will provide technical support during the setup and takedown of exhibitions and attend project meetings as requested
• You will provide technical support to the museum shops, offices, and food and beverage areas
• You will oversee and support the execution of outsourced work and ensure proper completion and administrative processing
• You manage the materials, tools, warehouses, and workshops
• You will consult regularly with the Facilities Manager to share information and evaluate work

• Have knowledge of architectural, mechanical, and electrical systems; knowledge of AV technology is a plus
• You hold or wish to obtain a first aid and VCA certification
• You have strong social and communication skills and are fluent in Dutch and English, or are willing to learn
• You can work on a project basis and independently, with a focus on finding solutions and the ability to organize your work effectively
• Someone who can help brainstorm ways to improve work processes, takes the initiative, and isn’t daunted by a heavy workload or the flexibility it sometimes requires
• Have experience with Windows and Office 365 applications
• Willing to work occasionally on weekends
• Have an affinity for art, culture, and historic buildings

The De Nieuwe Kerk and H’ART Museum Staff Foundation is a creative and growing organization that produces exhibitions at both De Nieuwe Kerk and H’ART Museum. Together, the museums host an average of five exhibitions per year, in collaboration with national and international museums. • A gross salary based on education and experience in pay scale 6 (in accordance with the Museum Collective Bargaining Agreement): between €2,500.18 and €3,086.68 per month for full-time employment (37.5 hours per week)

• 8% vacation pay and 25 to 30 vacation days (depending on your age) per year for full-time employment
• a commuting allowance if you live outside Amsterdam
