As a Planning Coordinator at the Concertgebouw, you’ll be working at one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world,
in a place where there’s something new to experience every day. You play a key role in making
concerts and events by scheduling the various hospitality staff members who work as
catering and coat check staff, ushers, tour guides, and party managers. Thanks to your knowledge and experience
and, using various software programs, you will contribute to planning and related tasks
such as creating work schedules.
About Het Concertgebouw
The Royal Concertgebouw is considered one of the world’s leading concert halls due to
its unparalleled acoustics and its wide-ranging, high-quality programming. Our mission is to connect and
enrich as many people as possible through a sublime musical experience.
Our programming includes classical, pop, hip-hop, jazz, children’s concerts, and film music. Each year,
we host more than 900 events, attracting over 730,000 visitors. With our passionate and close-knit
team, we strive to provide the very best experience for visitors, musicians, and staff.
Who are you?
- You have knowledge and experience in planning, and preferably have knowledge and experience in the hospitality industry and, ideally, in management;
- You are good at organizing and planning. You also think ahead and are good at assessing where action
on your part is needed. You recognize problems and come up with a plan to solve them;
- You're skilled at working with Office and Teams and are meticulous—you could even be called a stickler for detail
;
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills, and if you also have
intercultural communication skills, we would welcome that;
- You enjoy working with colleagues. When the situation calls for it, you’re willing to make choices
and don’t put off making decisions;
- You are able to handle confidential and
personal information with integrity and professionalism;
- In addition, you have strong people skills: good social skills, such as empathy
and an approachable demeanor. You know how to naturally build rapport with
employees while also setting boundaries.
No two people are alike. The Concertgebouw strives to be an organization where everyone feels welcome and safe—where employees are free to be themselves and are given the space and recognition they need to contribute in their own way
to the mission:
The Concertgebouw brings together a diverse audience and enriches their lives with a sublime musical experience.
That’s why we’re curious to find out who you are!
What will you be doing?
- Your main duties and responsibilities are:
- You will be the point of contact for the various hospitality staff members, a group of about 125
colleagues who work in food and beverage service, at the coat check, as ushers, tour guides, or party managers;
- You will be responsible for communicating with these employees, both by phone and via email and
newsletters;
- You will perform scheduling tasks for the various hospitality staff members, such as creating the
schedule, assigning work shifts, arranging for sick leave replacements, reviewing expense reports, and
processing shift swaps and schedule changes. In addition, you will also handle personnel administration;
- Together with your colleagues, you will conduct recruitment and selection interviews for the hospitality/coat check team and
meet with these employees during performance reviews.
What does your team look like?
You will be part of the Planning Department, a dedicated, enthusiastic, and friendly team with an
informal work atmosphere where you’ll communicate and consult with each other frequently.
What do we offer?
- A salary between €2,428 and €3,374 gross per month based on full-time employment (38
hours per week);
- A pension plan;
- A dynamic, informal work environment;
- With the free ticket program, you can attend concerts in what is (in our humble opinion) the most beautiful
concert hall in the Netherlands;
- You can take training courses to keep your knowledge up to date and further your career;
- A bicycle plan up to €749, including VAT;
- The opportunity to take yoga classes or join our running team.
