Participation Officer (m/f/x)
As a participation specialist, you will develop thematic programs and contextual initiatives addressing current issues affecting the city and the country, such as poverty, loneliness, identity, and cultural diversity. You will connect our theater to target audiences, social institutions, and residents of Breda who do not typically have access to the performing arts and artistic film.
With three theater halls, three movie theaters, and two restaurants, the Chassé Theater in Breda is one of the largest performing arts venues in the country. As a public institution, we aim to use film and the performing arts to contribute to the well-being of all Breda residents.
How does an employee's participation contribute to that?
As a community engagement specialist, you open the doors of Chassé Theater to the city. Through your projects and initiatives, you work to lower as many barriers as possible to attending theater and film events.
Your main responsibilities are:
- Establishing sustainable and long-term relationships and collaboration with partners in the cultural and social sectors.
- Coordinating our WijkJury Breda and Be Proud projects.
- Initiating new projects and concepts that increase access to theater and film.
- Take our existing initiatives—such as low-stimulus films, Chassé Ontmoet, and "Buy a Ticket for Someone Else"—to the next level by raising awareness among the target audience and seeking out partnerships within the city.
- Gather information and input from partners and then work closely with your programming and marketing colleagues to launch new, complementary projects.
- Negotiating contracts and performance agreements with amateur theater groups.

What do we offer?
An exciting and independent role at one of the country’s leading theaters. The Chassé Theater is an organization in constant evolution, where growth and development are top priorities. In this role, you’ll be part of the programming team but will be responsible for your own specific area. You’ll collaborate with many other departments within the company, inspiring them with your ideas.
In addition, we offer you:
- Depending on your experience, a gross monthly salary between €3,000 and €3,600 for full-time employment.
- A contract for 24 hours per week for a period of one year, which will be renewed if performance is satisfactory.
- Time for time, which means that any overtime you work is compensated with time off.
- Free admission to performances.
The Chassé Theater has approximately 120 full-time staff members and 70 volunteers who work together on a wide variety of activities. We offer a diverse program ranging from art films to commercial entertainment, and from emerging local talent to established international filmmakers.
