At Digital Playground Rotterdam, we believe in the power of digital media and cultural education. We are looking for a creative and energetic Marketing & Communications Specialist to join our team. Are you a communications whiz with a passion for culture and media? Then we’re looking for you!
Digital Playground is dedicated to cultural education through media, with a social focus. Through practical, creative workshops, projects, and lesson series, we provide cultural education that helps develop the media literacy and soft skills of thousands of young people in Rotterdam each year. In our workshops, hands-on creation is always central. We create crossovers with various art disciplines and cultural partners. Whereas a digital world once opened up to us, we now find ourselves increasingly INSIDE that digital world. This is a development we must consciously navigate, but one that also offers many opportunities. In our workshops, we make these topics and developments accessible and understandable so that we can guide young people through them effectively. The changing world means that young people need a different set of skills. Digital literacy is one of them, but above all, it is necessary to develop soft skills that are suited to the present day. Our mission is to help young people create, discover, and grow, and to equip them with the skills and self-confidence to take on this challenge. To this end, we coined the term “Next Century Creativity,” which represents a comprehensive set of skills that young people need in our changing society. Developing these skills is central to all our workshops.
In this role, you will independently develop marketing and communication strategies and consult with the director on these matters. You will be responsible for internal and external communications, manage our social media channels and website, and create various types of content, such as newsletters, blogs, and press releases. In addition, you will organize events and workshops, maintain contacts with the press and media, and monitor the effectiveness of marketing campaigns. You will also contribute to increasing our own revenue through the rental of our spaces and assist in drafting and designing grant applications.
You have completed a relevant degree program or possess demonstrable knowledge gained through work experience. With at least 5 years of experience in a similar role, you have excellent writing and communication skills in Dutch. You have experience with social media management and SEO, and are creative, proactive, and results-oriented. You are able to develop innovative plans and know how to effectively utilize AI to achieve your goals. An affinity for the cultural sector and digital media is a must. The ability to design various communications yourself is a plus. You are able to work creatively within the limited budgets of the cultural sector. You live in Rotterdam or the surrounding area.
