As an Interaction & Education Officer at Theater Bellevue, you’ll be part of the programming team and will build bridges between performances and activities tailored to specific audience groups, with a focus on young visitors (ages 16+) and people who don’t typically have easy access to culture. You’ll do this by creating supplementary programs for them that encourage exploration, exchange, dialogue, and deeper engagement.
About the role
As an Interaction & Education Coordinator at Theater Bellevue, you will work as part of the programming team to build bridges between performances and activities tailored to specific audience groups, with a focus on young visitors and people who do not have easy access to culture. You will do this by creating supplementary programs for them that encourage exploration, exchange, dialogue, and deeper engagement.
You contribute to Theater Bellevue’s artistic and social mission by connecting creators, audiences, educational institutions, and community organizations to our theater. You build lasting relationships with organizations and networks that share an affinity for and expertise in these audience groups or within the themes of our program lines (such as “The Future is Female” and “Queer All Year”).
What will you be doing here?
- Further developing educational policiesthat contribute to Theater Bellevue’s mission and vision.
- Development and implementation of educational programsfor schools, with a focus on secondary vocational education (MBO) and secondary general education (VO).
- Establishing and maintaining relationships withschools, organizations, and relevant networks within the new target audiences.
- Development and implementation of educational programs related toour own productions, such as post-performance discussions, introductions, and in-depth audience engagement activities.
- Management of a program budgetfor educational activities and initiatives.
- Serve as a point of contact for groupsregarding contextual programming and educational opportunities, and select activities from their offerings that align with Bellevue’s objectives.
- Planning and communicationwith internal departments (Technical, Communications, Box Office, Volunteers, Programming).
- Assembling and managing a team of moderators and instructors.
- Contribute ideas on audience developmentin collaboration with marketing and programming.
- Contributing to grant applicationsand reporting on educational activities in conjunction with fundraising.
- Planning, coordinating, and working with performers to preparelow-stimulus receptions fora selection of performances.
What are you bringing?
- A completed associate's degree in art education, theater, cultural studies, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience with public outreach activities or educational programs
- An interest in theater, social issues, and cultural diversity
- Experience with project management, communication, and collaboration
- Creativity, ownership, and the ability to communicate inclusively
- Knowledge of the education sector is a plus
- Experience in identifying new communities and building relationships with these networks.
