A performer stands next to sound equipment, surrounded by an audience in an intimate, dark concert hall during an experimental music performance.

Sonic Acts is looking for a fundraising coordinator to work 24 hours per week (with the possibility of increasing to 32 hours). The application deadline is April 10, 2022.

Sonic Acts is a leading institution in the field of innovative electronic and digital art forms. With an extensive annual program in the Netherlands, abroad, and online, and a large-scale biennial festival in Amsterdam, Sonic Acts produces, presents, and distributes a wide variety of artworks. It is an ambitious organization that strives for exceptional artistic quality and serves as a platform that brings together an international network of creators, curators, and thinkers. Sonic Acts is based in Amsterdam and collaborates with leading Dutch and international partners—ranging from related cultural organizations to academic institutions.

As a Fundraising & Development Officer, you are responsible for systematically generating revenue for Sonic Acts’ current and new programs by approaching public and private funding sources. You actively research funding sources and financing opportunities. You will draw up a fundraising plan and schedule, develop and write project proposals, and be responsible for the financial and substantive processing of approved applications. You know how to translate ambitious ideas into convincing and realistic project proposals that align with the fund being applied to. The Fundraising Officer reports to the director, works closely with the programmers and the communications team, and thus makes an important contribution to the realization of the Sonic Acts program.

Responsibilities:

  • You will research, identify, and coordinate fundraising opportunities for all activities and projects, both locally and internationally.
  • You are responsible for planning grant applications and (future) funding opportunities.
  • You will develop and draft grant applications and proposals, coordinate internally with the relevant staff members, partners, and artists, and ensure that these are properly prepared, submitted, and processed (including financial matters).
  • You are the primary copywriter and editor for project proposals. You will take the texts submitted by colleagues and artists and turn them into coherent proposals, pitches, evaluations, and reports.
  • You will develop the fundraising and financing strategy based on regular evaluations.
  • You have a network of public and private funding sources and are committed to expanding the Sonic Acts network.
  • You will monitor relevant developments among Dutch and European funds and financial institutions, as well as in the field of private philanthropy, and report these to management.

Profile:

  • You have at least 3 years of verifiable experience in a fundraising role in the cultural sector.
  • You share an affinity with Sonic Acts’ programming and mission.
  • You are an excellent writer (in Dutch and English), have strong communication skills, and can convince, inspire, and motivate people through both spoken and written communication, based on a well-reasoned argument.
  • You have a relevant network of contacts at public and private foundations and are adept at making new connections. Knowledge of private philanthropy is a plus.
  • You are analytical, well-organized, and meticulous, and you spot opportunities that you know how to turn into results for the organization.
  • You are enterprising, proactive, and thrive in a project-based organization with an informal atmosphere and high standards.

We offer:

  • A versatile and challenging position for 24 hours per week at an innovative cultural organization in Amsterdam.
  • Collaborating with an ambitious team, interesting partners, and artists on unique programs.
  • Salary, depending on knowledge and experience, ranging from €2,561 to €4,375 gross per month for a full-time position, in accordance with De Zaak Nu’s Guidelines for Job and Pay Structures in Presentation Institutions.

Sonic Acts adheres to the Fair Practice Code and is committed to the Diversity & Inclusion Code. Sonic Acts strives to build a team that brings together as wide a range of experiences and perspectives as possible. When candidates are equally qualified, preference is given to the candidate who enhances diversity within the team.
