Would you like to be part of the dynamic and inspiring work environment at the Holland Festival? Do you get a kick out of international performing arts, working with numbers, and everything related to accounting? Do you enjoy working independently? If so, we’re looking for you to fill the position of Financial Administration Assistant (m/f/x).
What does your day look like?
In this dynamic work environment, as a financial administration staff member, you will be responsible for the entire financial administration of the Holland Festival and the Friends of the Holland Festival Foundation. You will be part of the Operations Department, alongside two colleagues who are responsible for the (executive) secretariat and office management. You will report to the Head of Operations. The Holland Festival has a single-person executive board and, in addition to Operations, comprises the Programming, Production, Communications & Marketing, and Development departments. In your role, you will be in contact with all permanent and temporary staff, interns, and freelancers.
About the Holland Festival
For 77 years, the Holland Festival has been bringing the best in performing arts from around the world to Amsterdam. The festival takes place at cultural venues and unexpected locations throughout the city. All disciplines are represented: theater, dance, music, music theater, digital art, interdisciplinary forms, and crossovers with visual art and film. At the Holland Festival, we offer you a vibrant and international work environment. You’ll work in our beautiful office in the heart of Amsterdam with a view of the IJ River as part of a permanent team of 30 highly passionate professionals. Everyone contributes their own expertise to create a world-leading festival year after year.
At the Holland Festival, we strive to reflect Dutch society. A successful festival stems from the interplay of cultures, personalities, and experiences. The success of our organization depends entirely on the quality of our people and what they bring to the table. We endorse the Cultural Diversity Code and apply inclusive hiring practices to ensure equal opportunities for all. We also utilize Realdrives, a motivational assessment tool for individuals, teams, and organizations, with the goal of enabling more effective teamwork.
You will work at least 0.6 FTE (22.8 hours per week) from August through May and 1 FTE (38 hours per week) in June and July. This is initially a temporary position for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension.
What do you bring to the table?
- Thanks to your ability to work independently, you will be able to review and accurately process outgoing and incoming invoices without supervision using our Visma.net accounting system (and its integrations with the Tixly ticketing system and the Salesforce platform we use). You will partially prepare the interim and annual audits, handle the periodic filing of sales tax returns, ensure that personal expense reports and the digital archiving of financial documents are in order, and successfully monitor the collection of outstanding receivables.
- In your role, you may sometimes need input from others to perform your tasks efficiently. Thanks to your proactive approach, you reach out to colleagues when you need information that is essential for carrying out your work. For example, if an invoice has not yet been approved, you take the initiative and remind your colleague so that payment deadlines are met and suppliers receive payment on time.
- Thanks to your strong written and spoken Dutch skills, you will be able to share information accurately with our external payroll provider, communicate with the company that assists us with our accounting system in case of questions, and draft and process invoices and other documents in Dutch.
- Thanks to your meticulous approach, you ensure, for example, that monthly payroll is prepared accurately, invoices are issued correctly, outstanding amounts are collected on time, and that settlements with funds (which provide financial support to the festival) are handled properly.
- In the run-up to and during the festival, things get busy and we all work long hours. Thanks to your ability to handle stress, you’re able to work with your colleagues in a friendly and efficient manner even when things get hectic, meet your goals, and successfully complete your tasks.
What do we offer?
- A salary ranging from EUR 2,843 (grade 3.0) to EUR 4,488 (grade 3.15) gross for full-time employment (the starting salary depends on your knowledge and experience);
- A fixed-term employment contract (one year), with the possibility of extension;
- Excellent benefits package (including a personal training budget, theater budget, the option to work from home, a flexible holiday policy, staff ticket arrangements for the annual festival, staff outings, and Monday lunches). We value your professional growth and are happy to support it;
- A laptop and other equipment for working from home on loan.
