You will maintain financial records that provide timely insights and are accurate down to the last detail. You will identify discrepancies early on and ensure that processes run smoothly and efficiently. Through your work, you will make a direct contribution to a safety region that must be constantly prepared to ensure the safety of its people!

What will you be doing?

As a financial administration specialist, you ensure that the organization’s financial processes run smoothly and reliably. You keep track of income and expenses, process financial data accurately, and help maintain accurate and transparent records. With your attention to detail and aptitude for numbers, you support your colleagues and management by providing up-to-date and reliable financial information.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Processing and verifying purchase and sales invoices
  • Maintaining accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Processing bank transactions and performing account reconciliations
  • Monitoring outstanding invoices and maintaining contact with customers and suppliers regarding payments
  • Assistance with monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings
  • Preparation of financial statements and reports
  • Verifying that the records are accurate, complete, and up to date
  • Assistance with preparing VAT returns and audits
  • Identifying discrepancies and contributing ideas for improvements to financial processes

You'll recognize yourself in this  

  • An MBO diploma in financial administration and/or a practical diploma in bookkeeping.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Do you have experience with Microsoft Dynamics and/or Business Central? That would be great!

Here's what you'll get from us

At the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you can work with a great team where you’ll have opportunities to grow in your role.

  • Salary in pay grade 7 ranging from €2,644 to €3,818 per month, based on a 36-hour workweek.
  • A job for 32–36 hours per week.
  • An individual flexible spending allowance (IFSA) of 18.63% of the gross annual salary. This includes the year-end bonus and vacation pay.
  • 187.2 hours of leave based on a 36-hour workweek, of which 43.2 are overtime hours. May 1 and May 5 are fixed days off (10.3 hours); these are included in this total.
  • A one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position.
  • A generous pension plan through ABP, 70% of which is paid by us.
  • The option to work remotely with a work-from-home allowance of €3 per day.
  • Monthly health insurance premium.
  • Free access to all sports facilities and classes at the fire stations.
  • We place a strong emphasis on (personal) development, offering opportunities to participate in courses, training sessions, and workshops.
  • The opportunity to take on an on-call position in addition to your regular job.

The team

The organization consists of three sectors and several staff units. The finance officer reports to the Control, Information, and Finance (CIF) department within the Operations sector. CIF has several areas of responsibility, including developing financial policy; preparing internal and external planning and control documents (such as the budget, budgeting, financial statements, and reports); maintaining financial records; managing the administrative organization; and conducting internal controls related to operations.
