Do you enjoy sharing knowledge and sparking the public’s interest in our museum’s exhibitions? Do you enjoy developing educational programs for a variety of audiences? We are looking for a new colleague to join our Education & Public Engagement team.
Where will you be working?
The Dordrechts Museum (79 FTE) is a gathering place where a wide audience can discover art and history in an inspiring way. We believe in the power of art and history and their importance in helping people relax and grow.
That is why, through our collection and programming, we want to invite a broad and diverse audience to discover what our museums and archives have to offer.
We not only offer our own program, but also collaborate with cultural and social organizations both within and outside the city. Many of our activities are connected to Dordrecht while also having a national and international reach. The Dordrechts Museum is a cultural organization of the City of Dordrecht that comprises Huis Van Gijn, Het Hof van Nederland, the Dordrechts Museum, and the Dordrecht Regional Archives.
The TeamThe Education Team consists of 7 education staff members.
What will you be doing?
You will be working at the beautiful Dordrechts Museum, which houses a collection of six centuries of painting. As an Education & Public Engagement Officer, you will independently develop educational programs and activities focused on the temporary exhibitions at the Dordrechts Museum. To this end, you will create educational plans tailored to various target groups, such as adults, young people, and (young) families. You will be responsible for your own budget, which is allocated based on an exhibition project.
You will research specific topics or themes related to the exhibitions and develop, among other things, guided tours, educational kits, audio tours, videos, information programs and systems, and themed routes tailored to the user. In doing so, you will collaborate with various external partners. You will also incorporate audiovisual resources and new media into your plans.
You will discuss proposals, plans, and products with the relevant curators and participate in project groups for exhibitions and other museum initiatives. You will collaborate with organizations and partners in developing and implementing educational plans. You will report on progress and identify bottlenecks in a timely manner. When developing programs and activities, you will ensure that the necessary components are developed by third parties and oversee their implementation.
Together with the team, you will be responsible for the educational program for the entire Dordrecht Museum organization. Where necessary, you will support your colleagues in their work, and you may also be involved in other projects that come up.
