Are you familiar with student information systems and administrative workflows in the education sector? Are you also enthusiastic and have a positive attitude? The Service Bureau at the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK) is looking for a Central Student Administration Officer
Who are you?
You enjoy helping people and are willing to look into things further if you can’t answer a question right away. You have a proactive work ethic and end your workday with a sense of satisfaction when you’ve gotten a lot done and helped people effectively. Even when things get busy, you keep a cool head, set priorities, and distinguish between what’s important and what’s not. You don’t mind that every day turns out differently than planned, and you get energy from providing optimal support to our students and academies during the enrollment and withdrawal process. In addition, you have an affinity for administrative processes.
What are you bringing?
- You have a college-level work and thinking ability
- You have work experience with administrative processes
- You have strong technical skills. You quickly get the hang of systems you’re not yet familiar with
- You have a good command of the MS Office suite
- You handle peak workloads well and work with precision
- Work experience in higher education is preferred.
- You have excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English (both verbal and written).
What will you be doing?
As part of the Central Student Administration, you and your colleagues will serve as the point of contact for all AHK students and course participants, assisting them with administrative matters related to their studies. Your responsibilities will focus primarily on:
- assisting students and course participants with enrolling in and withdrawing from their programs
- advising on and billing for tuition and course fees
- making and monitoring payment arrangements with students and course participants
- providing support and advice on the immigration process for students from outside the EU
- providing support and advice to colleagues at the academies on matters related to educational administration and regulations
Day-to-day communication takes place via email, phone, and at the front desk of the central student administration office at the Academy of Theater and Dance, located in the heart of Amsterdam.
We want all our colleagues to feel at home at the AHK. So it doesn’t matter to us what your personal style is, what your background is, or who you’re attracted to. What matters is that you are yourself and that you are enthusiastic and committed, while enjoying the hustle and bustle of the AHK’s intercultural and artistic environment. You identify with the Service Bureau’s core values: Passion, Professionalism, Co-creation, Service Orientation, and Inclusivity.
Who are we?
The Amsterdam University of the Arts comprises the Breitner Academy, the Academy of Architecture, the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Netherlands Film Academy, the Reinwardt Academy, and the Academy of Theatre and Dance. Through a wide range of specialized higher professional education programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, the AHK prepares students for careers in the national and international fields of art, culture, and heritage. Within the AHK, support services are centrally housed in the Service Bureau, which consists of the departments of Corporate Control, Central Administration and Procurement, ICT, Information Management, Facilities and Management, HR, and Education, Research, and Communication.
The Central Student Administration (CSa) is part of the Central Administration and handles the annual enrollment and withdrawal of approximately 3,000 students and 1,000 course participants at the university. In addition, the CSa is responsible for student accounts receivable management, all matters related to residence permits for non-European students, and student ID cards.
We work with a team of five colleagues who stay in close contact with one another and always strive to help each other out, so that tasks are distributed fairly and everyone continues to enjoy their work, even when things get busy.
What do we offer?
The AHK offers an exciting position at a socially responsible organization within a pleasant work environment. We work approximately 60% of the time on-site and 40% from home. If you prefer to work exclusively on-site, that is an option. The position is classified in scale 7 (administrative assistant OOP-D, up to €3,740.78 gross per month for full-time employment). Appointment and compensation are in accordance with the collective labor agreement for higher professional education (CAO-HBO); salary placement depends in part on education, experience, and most recent salary.
This is a one-year appointment for the time being, and the position comes with a competitive benefits package.
If you are hired as our new colleague, we will require a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) upon your start date.
