IHLIA is the leading heritage institution in the field of LGBTQ+. IHLIA collects, preserves, and makes its collections accessible so that they are available for research, policy-making, media, and other purposes.
IHLIA promotes greater understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and raises awareness of the term by providing information and historical resources to a wide range of audiences. IHLIA’s activities highlight the full diversity of the LGBTQ+ community in Dutch society.
This vacancy is for an existing position, due to the departure of a colleague.
The library/archives and information services staff member is responsible for managing various collections. The staff member also handles inquiries and provides information services to both visiting customers and those who contact IHLIA through other channels.
The employee is jointly responsible for managing the entire collection, including both physical and digital collections. This includes, among other things, collecting, preserving, cataloging, and making documents and other materials available. In addition, the employee’s duties include maintaining the library and archive collections through organization and display tasks.
The employee contributes to the presentation of the collection in a variety of ways, both online and in person.
The staff member supports the exhibition and public program by contributing ideas and providing the necessary items from the collection.
Together with colleagues, the employee is responsible for organizing information services and handling information requests. This includes guiding and encouraging customers to find information on their own. In addition, the employee is responsible for organizing and conducting group tours.
An important additional responsibility of this position is managing the collection management system, which includes assigning roles to employees and creating and modifying forms and reports.
The employee is able to work both independently and as part of a team and believes it is important to preserve the heritage of the LGBTQ+ community for research and other purposes.
The employee reports to the director in the organizational hierarchy and to the head of collections in terms of job responsibilities.
