The Drents Museum offers a glimpse into the world and gives the world a glimpse into Drenthe. The museum belongs to and is for everyone. We aim to be a successful museum of international significance and to offer an enriching experience to as many people as possible through stories about archaeology, art, and history.
We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Professional to join our Marketing, Communications, and Events team for 32 hours per week.
We are the Drents Museum in Assen, and we organize high-profile international exhibitions on archaeology and art. We also delight visitors with gems from Drenthe’s history. On average, we attract 200,000 visitors per year, largely thanks to our dynamic public campaigns. Last November, we opened exhibitions on Pompeii and the world-renowned German artist Neo Rauch. The museum has big ambitions. Soon, we will be focusing on the history of the Moluccans in Drenthe.
We are currently working on the spectacular new collection presentation *Labyrinthia*, preparing for the major Van Gogh exhibition *In the Footsteps of Vincent*, and gearing up for a major renovation. Many visitors call our Bar Brasserie Pingo the most beautiful museum café in the Netherlands. The events and activities we develop as part of our programming—and beyond—generate a lot of excitement! This is how we aim to provide all our visitors with a wonderful experience. And you can contribute to that experience!
You have strong writing, speaking, and presentation skills in Dutch and, preferably, in English as well. You also remain calm amid the hustle and bustle of Team MCE, maintain a clear overview, set priorities effectively, and help others do the same. You know how to build support for your positions despite all the sensitivities, and you can quickly switch between various topics and conversation partners.
Ideally, you have a relevant degree at the higher vocational education (HBO) level and the necessary experience in a (fast-paced) Marketing & Communications department. You value a pleasant, collegial work environment where everyone is working toward the same goal. You handle deadlines and time pressure well, and your creativity knows no bounds. You’re also willing to work on weekends and/or evenings when necessary. A driver’s license isn’t required but is helpful. And if you don’t meet all the requirements but still think you’re up for the job: apply!
A unique workplace with enthusiastic colleagues: you’ll be part of a supportive and dynamic team of colleagues who are eager to roll up their sleeves and get to work alongside you. You’ll initially be offered a one-year contract with the possibility of a permanent position after that year. We follow the Museum Collective Labor Agreement, which offers attractive terms of employment. The salary ranges from €2,727 to €3,849 gross per month for a 36-hour workweek.
You’ll also receive an Individual Choice Budget of 13.84% per year (covering vacation pay, year-end bonus, and extra leave), which you can use however you like: take it as cash, save it, trade it in for a bicycle, buy extra leave, etc. There is an option to work partially from home, and we offer a travel allowance. You’ll also be provided with a laptop and phone, and you can shop at a discount in the museum shop or grab a drink or a bite to eat at Pingo.
Would you like to work in a dynamic, creative, and inspiring environment? If so, please apply by January 22, 2023, in whatever way works best for you at pomuseum@drentsmuseum.nl, specifying “Marketing and Communications Professional.”
Would you like to learn more first? Please email p.klarenbeek@drentsmuseum.nl. The first round of interviews will be held during the week of January 30, 2023.
The Drents Museum believes in the power of diversity, which encompasses—among other things—cultural background, employability, gender, and age. We therefore highly value applications from candidates who can help increase the diversity of our team. We adhere to the Rooney Rule.
