
Leerorkest Nederland is an ambitious music education program with a social mission. Making music enriches lives, which is why we believe every child has the right to a music education. We operate nationwide, with initiatives such as the Instrument Depot for lending musical instruments. In Amsterdam, our programs in and around schools reach thousands of children and young people. Our home base is Amsterdam-Zuidoost, and we are housed at Muziekcentrum Zuidoost. Both foundations work closely together and share a single Management Team.
Due to the departure of our current PR and Communications Manager, we are seeking a:
The PR and Communications Manager works across a variety of media to increase awareness of and appreciation for the organization among (potential) stakeholders and other partners of the Leerorkest. You will serve in an advisory role to the executive board, develop policies, and independently shape the work. Within the management team, you will be the representative for the communications strategy.
As part of your role at the Leerorkest Nederland Foundation, you will also help shape the PR and communications strategy for the Instrumentendepot and Muziekcentrum Zuidoost. These three foundations carry out many activities together, share a management team, and have a single Board of Trustees.
You will develop communication plans, oversee their implementation, and manage the PR budget. As a member of the management team, you will help determine which events will be highlighted. You will advise colleagues on the communication aspects of their roles. In addition, you will supervise the part-time communications officer at Muziekcentrum Zuidoost and mentor the regular volunteers.
Together with your fundraising colleague, you will develop initiatives and campaigns to attract donors, secure sponsorship revenue, and obtain grants. You will maintain contact with ambassadors of the Leerorkest, as well as musicians and artists who support the initiative. You will manage the website, newsletter, social media, and direct mail. In doing so, you will ensure consistency with the brand guidelines, commission visual content, and use it in accordance with GDPR guidelines. You will write press releases, oversee the annual report process, and maintain contacts with the press and media partners.

You have a college or university degree and at least 5 years of proven experience in public relations and communications. You also have experience with project-based work and managing external partners. You have a fluent and clear writing style and hands-on knowledge of new media. You are comfortable working with standard software such as Office 365, Mailchimp, Adobe, WordPress, and CRM systems.
