Wishful Singing is looking for a Marketing and Communications Manager (0.6–0.8 FTE)

About Wishful Singing
We are Wishful Singing, a group of five professional, passionate singers with a unique sound, presence, and drive. Through our concerts that consistently break the fourth wall, our artistic collaborations in the social sphere, special contextual programming, innovative interdisciplinary performances, and custom-made educational materials, we are committed to a world in which the life and well-being of every person is enriched and stimulated by music and song.
Through our projects, we create a world in which we use music and song to give voice to what it means to be human. A world in which, through our concerts and participatory activities, we inspire wonder, foster connection, offer comfort, provide meaning, stimulate creativity, and raise awareness about social and societal issues. Through our work, we aim to contribute to a just world, where it is self-evident that everyone is equal and can participate fully in society, regardless of race, gender, age, physical condition, or financial means.
Wishful Singing has its own office in Utrecht, where we meet 1 to 2 days a week. The rest of our work is done remotely. Our team is small but efficient and consists of a business and artistic director, a production manager, and a PR specialist.
Sing with confidence. In addition, the singers are involved in both the artistic and business aspects of the ensemble’s operations. The ensemble derives a large portion of its revenue from the sale of concerts it organizes itself and from online courses such as Gregorian Treasures.

With support from CWZ Hospital Nijmegen and Meander Medical Center Amersfoort, we developed the online singing therapy program
Sing with confidence. In this program, people living with long COVID, cancer, burnout, COPD, and other health issues work on their physical and emotional well-being. The focus is on enjoying singing, regaining confidence in one’s own body, and connecting with other participants. Since June 2021, more than 2,400 people have participated in
Sing with confidence have participated, and this number is still growing.
Sing with confidence is a key component of Wishful Singing with significant potential for growth and impact.
About the role
As Marketing and Communications Manager at Wishful Singing, you’ll play a key role in reaching our audience and advancing our mission. Together with our small, dedicated team, you’ll work to inspire wonder, build connections, and address social issues through music and song. Your enthusiasm for our plans and your ability to develop, implement, and manage them are crucial.
You will play a central role in our marketing activities, developing strategies for various target audiences and managing our social media presence. In addition, you will have the unique opportunity to further expand our groundbreaking project, “Zing je sterk,” which harnesses the healing power of music for people facing various health challenges. We collaborate with the marketing agency Afdeling Online, which supports us in various marketing activities.
Work
Your responsibilities include:
- Reaching current and new concertgoers
- Short- and medium-term marketing plans
- Writing promotional copy, devising PR campaigns, and generating free publicity.
- Carrying out the PR campaigns together with the Wishful Singing team
- Staying in touch with concert hall marketers
- Management of social media channels
- Uploading and maintaining content on the website and social media
- Analyzing relevant data to gain insights into our visitors
- Managing PR budgets and how to use them strategically
- Serving as the point of contact for journalists
For " Sing Strong":
- Planning, coordinating, and evaluating marketing and communication activities
- Managing the PR officer at Zing je sterk
Developing a social media strategy for participants - Be responsible for setting up Zing je sterk’s own channels on various platforms, creating content, etc.
Who we're looking for:
- You are proactive and self-reliant
- You have relevant work experience, preferably in the cultural or healthcare sector (marketing / communications / public relations)
- Experience with Google Analytics, SEO, SEA, and online PR campaigns is a plus
- You have an affinity for classical (vocal) music
What we offer
The position of “Marketing & Communications Associate” is for at least 24 hours per week (0.6 FTE) on a self-employed basis, but salaried employment is negotiable, as is an increase to 0.8 FTE in the near future. Compensation will be determined by mutual agreement based on knowledge and experience. We adhere to the Collective Labor Agreement for Dutch Music Ensembles.
