Hurricane has specialized for twenty years in creating musical performances by professional musicians at an international level. Through its theatrical concerts, Oorkaan helps as many young and old ears as possible discover the infinite world of music. Music from all over the world, past and present, is presented in theatrical and surprising forms.

Oorkaan is more than just a concert series; we perform for families and school groups in concert halls, theaters, outdoor venues, and gyms, and we also organize concerts for residents of various asylum seeker centers (AZC) in the Netherlands. Oorkaan invests in building a new audience and in the talent development of creators and young, talented musicians. We do this through masterclasses, at our academy in Vienna, our own Children’s Council, and the Keten project .

We offer a one-year contract with the intention of renewal and a competitive salary based on the Collective Labor Agreement for Theater and Dance. About the position:

As Corporate Communications Manager, you are the specialist in your field within the Oorkaan team. Together with the Creative Marketing Manager, you form the marketing team. You also work closely with the National and International Bookings Manager. The content of our communications is informed by the artistic productions we create and perform, as well as talent development programs such as the Jeunesse-Oorkaan Academy in Vienna, and the activities and recommendations of our Children’s Council for Music. This is a new position in our team, and we look forward to your input on the role’s responsibilities.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Helping to develop the Arts Plan 2025–2028 (application for four-year grants from national and municipal funds, to be submitted by the end of January 2024), in which the marketing department’s vision forms a key chapter;
• Positioning Oorkaan and the Oorkaan Ensemble among (potential) funders, policymakers, politicians, and programmers at national and international concert halls and venues;
• (Inter)national sales and marketing for the 2024/2025 season's offerings;
• Developing campaigns for new productions and tours;
• Recruiting and managing independent contractors during busy periods.

Your profile:

• Demonstrable work experience and knowledge in the areas of corporate communications, positioning, and marketing at the strategic level;
• Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills;
• The ability to switch effectively between strategic, tactical, and operational levels;
• A strong project manager who is skilled at planning, budgeting, and managing contractors;
• You have an excellent command of Dutch and English; German is a plus;
• You have strong communication skills, are a team player, and also enjoy working independently;
• You are passionate about and feel connected to social issues such as inclusion and equal opportunity, and you have an affinity for the performing arts.
