What are you going to do?
The healthcare landscape is changing rapidly, and there is a great deal happening within Amsterdam UMC as well. Not only in healthcare, education, and research, but also in other departments, such as IT, procurement, finance, HR, and our lateralization team. As a management trainee, you’ll complete three 8-month assignments in different departments of our hospital and receive training, peer review, and intensive coaching throughout the trainee program. A customized program with complex healthcare-related assignments that will help you get to know Amsterdam UMC, build a strong network, and contribute to improvements throughout our entire organization. You’ll learn a lot from us, and we’re eager to learn from you.
To give you a real sense of what it’s like to work as a management trainee, we’ve developed a virtual experience . In it, you’ll get a unique behind-the-scenes look at Amsterdam UMC and encounter a number of challenges you might face as a trainee. Completing the game will take between 15 and 30 minutes. There are no right or wrong answers during the game.
What should you bring?
- A completed master's degree;
- The ambition to develop into a project manager, consultant, or program coordinator;
- Ability to work independently. We provide you with solid guidance, but we’ll also throw you in at the deep end. You’re comfortable with the unknown and quickly adapt to new situations;
- The ability to deliver tangible results quickly for every project;
- A curious, sharp, and analytical mind, strong communication skills, and the ability to reflect on one’s own work.
What we offer you
- A temporary appointment for the duration of the trainee program (2 years). Start date: February 1, 2025. You will spend 10% of your time on personal development. Together with a diverse group of fellow trainees and participants in our talent program, you will work both internally and with an external training firm to develop soft skills such as personal leadership, advising, and communication, as well as hard skills such as project management and time management.
- A starting salary of €3,330 (gross per month based on a 36-hour workweek). This increases every six months, reaching a salary of €3,824 in the final six months. This applies to all trainees. In addition, you will receive an 8.3% year-end bonus.
- Vacation hours: 186.4 hours per year for full-time employees, with the option to save up hours.
- Pension accrual through the ABP, for which we pay 70% of the contribution.
- Reimbursement of your public transportation costs. Starting October 1, 2024, 100% reimbursement for public transportation for one-way trips of more than 7 km, and €0.18 per km for personal transportation, up to a maximum of 40 km one way.
- Do you prefer to walk or bike to work? Take advantage of our great bike policy. And starting October 1, 2024, you’ll receive a reimbursement of €0.18 per kilometer.
- Free and unlimited access to our online learning platform, GoodHabitz.

To ensure we can properly compare candidates and make an informed decision about who to invite for an interview, we willsendall candidates a briefpersonality assessment andaptitude test. You will receive these on Monday, September 2, and must complete them by September 5 at the latest. Together, they will take about 30 minutes to complete, and we ask that you plan accordingly.
The first round of interviews is scheduled forweeks 37 and 38 (on-site). We ask that you keep this in mind. The second round of interviews will generally take placein weeks 39 and 40 (on-site).
