3 reasons why this is the job for you
In this responsible and independent executive-level position at the Social Insurance Bank, you will ensure that the Board of Directors is fully supported. You will work as part of a team of experienced professionals who are just as motivated as you are to keep everything running smoothly. As a Management Assistant to the Board of Directors, your responsibilities will include the following:
You manage the schedule and email inbox of the director(s) as well as the functional email account. You also handle all verbal and written communication—such as letters, phone calls, and emails—at the executive level entirely on your own. You take the initiative to schedule meetings involving multiple parties at the executive level, assessing the order and duration of these meetings yourself. You assess the urgency and necessity of requests yourself and then independently decide on the resulting actions. You anticipate and respond quickly to the needs of the board and provide high-level support. Whenever possible and appropriate, you use your strong digital skills and insights to make proposals for simplifying or streamlining work processes within the department.
Other common responsibilities:
First and foremost, you’re just yourself. We give you plenty of room to be that way here at SVB. In your role as Management Assistant, you’ll work with the team to provide optimal support to the Board of Directors. You see managing a complex schedule and quickly switching between tasks and the issues that come your way as a challenge. You have an interest in social and political developments and an affinity for internal strategic and administrative matters. You are a digitally savvy, outgoing person who understands the impact of—and sees applications for—technological developments. You keep a cool head and always persevere, even when things get tough. Additionally, you have:
Your challenges, work-life balance, and growth: we’re committed to supporting them. There are plenty of opportunities for personal and professional growth. It’s up to you to seize them.
When you start as a Management Assistant (based on a 36-hour workweek), you can also count on:
From child benefits to Social Security retirement benefits: we administer social insurance payments on behalf of the government. Every year, we disburse 60 billion euros to approximately 5.7 million customers—on time, fairly, and efficiently.
From 11 locations, we are committed to providing the best possible service to our customers. We do this with a team of approximately 4,200 dedicated and skilled colleagues. The teams complement each other and together make a difference. A job at the SVB offers opportunities for thinkers and doers with initiative. This makes the SVB an organization with social relevance and a pleasant, people-oriented culture.
The SVB devotes significant attention and time to the professional and competency-based development and training of its employees. The organization is actively transitioning into a modern (partially agile) organization where self-management and multidisciplinary collaboration are key priorities.
We work in a small, close-knit team with a clear division of responsibilities and a structured organization, specifically the Executive Support Team (management assistants and executive secretaries). You will report to the Manager of International Affairs and Public Affairs.
You will build a close-knit team dynamic, working seamlessly and independently with your colleagues. As a Management Assistant, you will maintain a professional presence in the office and cover each other’s duties when someone is absent.
For us, a positive atmosphere and mutual understanding are key to working well together.
“In this role, we really rely on each other to keep the board members informed. We work very closely together. The collaboration takes place in a very harmonious and positive atmosphere. My colleagues are driven, professional, and always willing to help. There’s also room for the ‘human side,’ and we support each other when needed,” says Marion van der Donk, Management Assistant.
This is a position based in Amstelveen.
The SVB strives to be an inclusive and diverse organization—one that reflects society. Sooner or later, everyone will have dealings with the Social Insurance Bank. That is why it is important that everyone feels welcome. This applies to both customers and employees.
