The position
As the Sports Parks East Site Coordinator, you will oversee all aspects of the day-to-day maintenance operations at the sports parks in Amsterdam-East. A unique and varied role in which you’ll be in constant communication with your team manager, foremen, sports park staff, and other colleagues, as well as users and various maintenance contractors. Sustainability, biodiversity, and climate adaptation will play an increasingly important role in your work, and you’ll have the opportunity to explore innovative maintenance techniques, for example at a sports trade show.
You will coordinate the execution of daily tasks, instruct and coach staff, and monitor the progress and quality of all work required for the maintenance of the sports parks. Given the wide variety of sports activities at the Oost sports parks (including soccer, hockey, cricket, track and field, and tennis), maintenance must be of the highest quality. In this role, you serve as the link between the employees/foremen at the parks, the team manager, and other relevant departments within the municipality. You will also draw up the annual maintenance plan for the various parks and help oversee the Long-Term Maintenance Plan (MJOP). You will streamline maintenance activities and serve as the primary point of contact for sports clubs and external suppliers.
The team manager has ultimate financial responsibility, but you also play an important role in administrative and financial matters. You handle purchase orders, oversee the procurement process, and monitor invoices. You also contribute to the budgeting process, monitor available budgets, and, together with the team manager, conduct quarterly budget meetings with the planning department. In addition, you are responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with mandatory inspections of sports equipment and facilities. This also applies to inspections related to occupational health and safety (ARBO), RIE, and VCA. Drawing on your practical experience, you contribute to the planning department’s project team for renovations and new construction projects. You serve as an advisory member and are involved from the start through to completion.
Here's what you do on an average day
- Ensuring the sports fields are maintained to the highest standards, under the supervision of the foremen.
- Ensure order, safety, and the proper use of facilities, equipment, and the vehicle fleet.
- In consultation with the team manager, the team, and the fleet manager, ensure that the vehicle fleet and other necessary equipment are adequately equipped in terms of both quality and quantity. Maintain records and report to the team manager.
- Generate a monthly report from the management app, discuss it during the staff meeting, and prepare reports.
- Work with the team leaders to kick off the week with the employees.
- Maintain contact with clubs, sports associations, and other users.
- Contributing to the park's green design.
