
Through its“SER Diversity in the Workplace” initiative, the Social and Economic Council of the Netherlands (SER) contributes to the creation of an inclusive labor market. It does this by generating knowledge about diversity and inclusion (D&I) in the workplace and sharing it with companies and organizations. Nationally, the Diversity Charter is used for this purpose. At the regional level, we are building networks of companies and organizations that contribute to an inclusive labor market and support them with knowledge and advice. In 2020, Amsterdam – Diverse & Inclusivewas launched in the greater Amsterdam area, and in 2021,010 Inclusive was launchedin Rotterdam Rijnmond. In 2024, Utrecht – Diverse & Inclusive will be launched!
We are therefore looking for two trailblazers. Together with your colleague, you will set up the Utrecht – Diverse & Inclusive help desk and promote D&I among small and medium-sized businesses and organizations in Utrecht.
This is a 32-hour-per-week position for one year; the start date is January 1, 2024. You will serve as a policy officer at the SER and will work at least one day per week in The Hague to exchange knowledge with colleagues. On the other days, you will work in Utrecht, engage with organizations and companies, or work from home. TheSocial and Economic Counciladvises the government and parliament on the broad outlines of social and economic policy. The SER also facilitates agreements and covenants and carries out administrative tasks. The SER’s Council brings together independent government representatives, employers, and employees. The SER’s administrative staff consists of approximately 170 employees.
SER staff work in a dynamic environment closely tied to the political sphere, alongside numerous civil society organizations that often have divergent interests. SER policy officers work in project teams on current socioeconomic issues. The atmosphere at the SER is informal, and there is a great deal of personal interaction.

To ensure that all candidates are evaluated consistently, we use scoring forms. We use these to assess job-specific criteria during the application process and job-specific competencies during interviews and writing assignments. During interviews, we ask all candidates the same questions so that we can determine the extent to which they meet the job requirements.
