Lead Instructor, Year 3 Games (0.2–0.6 FTE)
Where will you be working?
With over 4,000 students, HKU is the largest university of the arts in the Netherlands and one of the largest educational institutions in Europe focused on art, culture, and the creative industries. HKU offers a wide range of programs across nine schools.
At HKU Games, the art of games takes center stage. Games are the most complex, engaging, and modern art form in existence—one that cannot exist without a player. Games possess tremendous transformative power and have a profound impact on individuals, the professional field, and society. We train our students to become artistic game designers through the following programs: Game Art, Games Design, and Game Development (within the CMGT bachelor’s program).
The organization and implementation are structured around the four academic years, with each year having a team consisting of a program director, a tutor, and a (lead) instructor. For the fellow instructors on the team, the core instructor is responsible for, among other things, educational coordination and grade administration, and you serve as the primary point of contact for instructors and students with questions about the respective academic year. There are a total of four core instructors at HKU Games.
The core faculty position requires 0.2 FTE (1 day per week). Because it is difficult for HKU staff outside of HKU Games to fulfill the core faculty role without also teaching additional courses, taking on additional teaching duties is negotiable. Depending on knowledge and experience, this may lead to a larger appointment (up to 0.6 FTE).
