We offer more than 50 creative degree programs at the associate, bachelor’s, and master’s levels. This is where art, creativity, and innovation come together.
Facilities & Housing (FZH)
Together with our friendly Facilities & Housing (FZH) team, we support all our campuses in the areas of facilities and housing. We strive for sustainable, circular solutions and are committed to continuous improvement. In this way, we work together to ensure safe, well-functioning buildings where students and staff can work and learn comfortably. We’re very interested in learning about your talents and how you’d like to contribute to our department.
What will you be doing?
- As part of the FZH staff department, you will be directly responsible for planning and overseeing the implementation of projects under the long-term maintenance plan (MJOP) for our (historic) buildings;
- You schedule meetings to launch a maintenance project and delegate its implementation to the Heads of Operations and contractors. You monitor progress and make adjustments as needed;
- You will work closely with the site managers and your immediate colleagues, particularly the senior housing officer in the FZH department;
- You see opportunities to combine projects in a smart way, such as those from the long-term development plan, building renovations, or sustainability initiatives;
- You monitor progress, keep an eye on the budget, take timely action if things go off track, and ensure that all legal documents related to the renovation or building modifications are in order;
- You regularly monitor the HKU-wide Building Management System and the Energy Management System to identify and anticipate anomalies;
- You will contribute to coordination and collaboration with the education and research departments, other administrative services, and other support departments at the various locations.
What do you bring to the table?
- You have a high school diploma or an associate’s degree (or equivalent experience) and have extensive knowledge of architecture and building systems;
- You are a strong communicator and are skilled at bringing people together. You want to understand how the organization works and enjoy liaising with colleagues in education, support staff, and vendors;
- You are motivated to continue developing yourself, both within your field and within the department. HKU supports you in this and offers you plenty of opportunities to grow.
What do we offer?
- In accordance with the collective bargaining agreement for higher professional education, the gross monthly salary for full-time employment is capped at pay scale 10 (€3,609 to €5,378);
- Vacation pay (8%) and a year-end bonus of 8.3%;
- The appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal or a permanent position, subject to satisfactory performance;
- Time and resources to support your professional development, well-being, and long-term employability;
- A good pension plan, commuting allowance, parental leave, and much more.
