Do you have a degree in a science or engineering field and want to help improve the quality of education in the Netherlands? Are you energetic, able to think on your feet, and always committed to delivering the highest quality?

What will you be doing as a (junior) project manager?

As a (junior) project manager, you will work with colleagues and authors to develop new textbooks for one or more science subjects in secondary education. The goal of these textbooks is not only to teach students these subjects, but also to inspire both teachers and students.

You will mentor authors, coordinate the project, and ensure that high-quality teaching materials are available on time—materials you can be proud of. You will also visit schools, observe classes, provide training to teachers, and represent Boom Secondary Education at conferences. You will coordinate the process and maintain an overview, and together with the publisher, you will serve as the point of contact for your curriculum.

Where and with whom will you be working?

You’ll be joining a dedicated, enthusiastic, and enterprising team. You’ll work closely with publishers and project managers. Boom Secondary Education is an organization with a pleasant and informal atmosphere. You’ll be given a great deal of freedom and responsibility to do your job to the best of your ability, using your own judgment.

Boom Secondary Education is part of Koninklijke Boom Publishers. Our goal is to create teaching materials of the very highest quality that help students and teachers achieve the best possible results. In this way, you’ll make a real contribution to the quality of education in the Netherlands! We welcome candidates of all genders, ages, and (cultural or immigrant) backgrounds.

What do we offer?

  • A challenging and varied position for 32–36 hours per week in a pleasant and supportive work environment.
  • An attractive workplace across from the train station in Meppel, with the option to work from home.
  • A salary in pay scale VI or VII of the collective bargaining agreement (€2,700 – €3,900 based on a 36-hour workweek) for the publishing company, depending on your experience. 5 weeks of vacation, travel allowance, pension plan, and profit-sharing plan.
  • The Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Publishing Industry, supplemented by our own attractive benefits. These include a Flexible Spending Account, which you can use, for example, to take extra time off or to pay for training.
  • Unlimited access to training courses via Skilltown (more than 800 soft skills and subject-specific courses).
  • Access for you and your family to OpenUp (online support for mental health challenges).
  • Your own laptop so you can do your job to the best of your ability.

What are you bringing?

You have the creativity and ability to improvise needed to shape your work in constantly changing circumstances. In addition, you enjoy working with others and:

  • Do you have a university degree in a science or math field?
  • Do you have an interest in secondary education?
  • Are you enterprising, proactive, detail-oriented, and goal-oriented?
  • Are you energetic and enthusiastic, do you think in terms of possibilities, and do you actively contribute to finding solutions?
  • Do you communicate clearly and are you able to coordinate effectively with the various stakeholders?

You don’t have to meet all the requirements to apply. Diverse perspectives and experiences are valuable to our team.
