The North Netherlands Orchestra (NNO) is the leading symphony orchestra of the three northern provinces. With over 150 years of history and a broad, innovative program, we reach a large and diverse audience. From our home base in Groningen, we present more than a hundred concerts each year in the provinces of Drenthe, Fryslân, and Groningen, as well as beyond.
Our mission: to open up new horizons for everyone in the North by presenting live music that moves and inspires. The NNO is a vital catalyst for the region’s cultural ecosystem—an orchestra that effortlessly bridges tradition and innovation. With a rich program—ranging from “classical” to groundbreaking crossover concerts, music education projects, and research in the field of Arts & Technology—we reach audiences of all ages in collaboration with many regional and national partners.
Eivind Gullberg Jensen is the chief conductor. Hartmut Haenchen and Kerem Hasan are principal guest conductors. Antony Hermus serves as an honorary conductor with the NNO. The NNO organization consists of 65 orchestra musicians and 20 staff members in support teams.
Are you an early-career professional with a knack for storytelling through text and images? Would you like to help raise the profile of the North Netherlands Orchestra—particularly our educational projects—and translate these into creative (digital) content?
In this role, you’ll work alongside and support our marketing department. You’ll primarily focus on the (online) visibility of our educational projects. You’ll gather stories and adapt them for the right channels and content. From newsletters to social media posts, you’ll put projects like the Pieter Roelf Youth Concerts, Move it!, and Symphony Unraveled on the map. In addition, you’ll support the marketing team with communications for concert marketing.
Diversity and Inclusion: At the NNO, we believe that diversity and inclusion contribute to the quality and creativity of our organization. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds and strive to create a work environment where everyone feels valued and heard. We encourage candidates who can enrich our team with their unique perspectives and experiences to apply.
