As a junior policy advisor, you are versatile. Every day, you translate complex issues into clear, structured, and accessible analyses. You move seamlessly between policy, research, advocacy, and lobbying. You are able to identify political, administrative, and societal developments and present the association’s positions based on well-reasoned analyses. You independently organize meetings with the university community and external stakeholders. You articulate and promote our positions in meetings, within networks that you build and maintain yourself, and via social media. In this way, you contribute to positioning UNL as a modern, responsive umbrella organization and a major player in the social and political arena.
UNL is actively committed to the personal development of its employees. We offer juniors a four-year development program. Over these four years, you will be prepared for a consulting role, a project management role, or an expert role outside of UNL, such as at a university. You will participate in and actively contribute to the junior group (Jong-UNL), which has its own training budget and functions as a peer support group. This allows you to quickly develop knowledge and skills. In addition, you will be guided through your learning process by a mentor.
You are an independent and creative colleague who is decisive, proactive, and flexible. You hold a master’s degree from a university. You possess strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and writing skills. You process and interpret numerical or other types of data with ease. In addition, you have an excellent command of the Dutch and English languages. You demonstrate an interest in social issues and have a keen sense of political and administrative dynamics. You are eager to develop (further) in a professional, challenging, and dynamic environment. A writing and/or math assignment may be part of the selection process.
A 40-hour-per-week position for one year. If your performance is satisfactory, we will extend your contract by three years. We offer you the opportunity to develop into a mid-level policy advisor (Grow and Go policy) within four years. UNL offers excellent benefits, including an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and an active training policy. The starting salary is scale 10 of the CAO NU.
