Through Berenschot Climate Talent, you’ll start working right away at one of our client companies. Our assignments are diverse, but they all have one thing in common: they require young talent with strong work ethic and analytical skills, a healthy dose of a solution-oriented mindset, and enthusiasm. And you’ve got all of that!

At Berenschot Climate Talent, you’ll have a training day at Berenschot every two weeks to further develop your skills as a junior sustainability and energy consultant and to familiarize yourself with the landscape of sustainability transitions. You’ll join a great team of other climate talents and be mentored on assignments by an experienced consultant from Berenschot’s Energy & Environment advisory group. Once your assignment is complete, you’ll receive a new challenge through Berenschot Climate Talent. This gives you the opportunity to gain experience in different roles and discover which challenges are the best fit for you.

Your role as a junior sustainability and energy consultant

There are many organizations working to make the Netherlands more sustainable. Some of the organizations you might assist as a junior consultant include:

• government agencies working on the development of offshore wind farms or combating energy poverty
• provinces that develop and implement programs to make mobility or agriculture more sustainable
• municipalities that coordinate projects to implement renewable energy sources for our homes
• grid operators who are developing power grids to supply electricity to solar farms and wind turbines.

Your challenges in the fields of energy and sustainability

...are varied, allowing you to gain experience in a wide range of tasks and work environments. As a consultant at Berenschot Klimaattalent, your responsibilities will include, for example:

• developing and implementing projects and activities that contribute to making a city or region climate-neutral
• organizing information sessions and community meetings to discuss the transition to sustainable energy sources with residents and businesses
• developing provincial policies and measures for sustainable agriculture, mobility, or business clusters.
• managing and maintaining a network operator’s relationships (such as with municipalities and developers) to ensure the success of regional energy strategies
• Exploring the potential for offshore wind energy and identifying the challenges faced by each (region-specific) stakeholder.
• Contributing ideas regarding a future energy system through online dashboards and other innovative energy sources and solutions (such as hydrogen and circular wind energy).

Your talent as a junior sustainability and energy consultant

• You hold a master’s degree (in Sustainable Development, Public Administration, Geography, Urban Planning, Energy Sciences, Environmental Studies, or a related field);
• You have 0–3 years of work experience. It is an advantage if you already have some internship or work experience;
• You think the energy transition is exciting and want to help make the Netherlands more sustainable;
• You don’t see a problem as an obstacle, but as a challenge; you’re enthusiastic, enjoy taking the initiative, and are a team player,
• You want to get started right away and make an impact quickly.
