As a junior at Stantec, you can count on a wealth of knowledge to support you. We have a comprehensive onboarding program that includes an induction process with one-on-one coaching and various training courses designed to turn you into a soil expert. We’ll also teach you exactly how to develop into a top-notch consultant. What your future at Stantec looks like is entirely up to you. After gaining the necessary work experience in our soil engineering field, you can advance within soil engineering or choose one of our other fields, such as environment, sustainability, infrastructure, spatial development, safety, hydrogeology, or geo-ICT.
What you will be doing
What’s a typical workday like for a Junior Consultant? Well, like this!
After a day of working from home, you take the train to the office for your weekly team meeting with your mentor, Coen. He gives you advice on some of the issues you’ve run into. Afterward, you get to work on a few soil surveys. You have a nice chat with a contractor and then draft an advisory report. Meanwhile, Wouter, the Business Line Manager, joins you at the desk next to yours. A quick chat, and then it’s back to work!
Lunchtime! Instead of heading to the local bakery, you’ll be listening to a lunchtime talk on the energy transition in the Netherlands. Two experienced colleagues will share their insights and findings.
Back at your desk, you realize it’s time for the weekly team meeting. Off to the conference room. You discuss what’s going on in the region and talk about important
discuss developments and share successes. Afterward, you get back to work with renewed energy. You enter the results of completed surveys into the system and then receive a call. It’s Eelco, a field worker you collaborate with. He’s come across asbestos and asks if he should expand the survey area. You give him advice and glance at your watch. It’s just past 5:00 p.m.—it’s the weekend! Time to wrap up the week with a few colleagues over drinks in town.
