Inspire young people, mentor volunteers, and collaborate on campaigns: as a youth organizer at Milieudefensie, you make a difference. Will you be the link between Milieudefensie Jong and the rest of our organization?
We are currently seeking a: Youth Organizer (0.8 FTE / 30 hours per week)
What is an organizer?
An organizer works to involve as many volunteers as possible in Milieudefensie’s campaigns and empowers them to take the initiative and develop their skills. We also refer to volunteers as “change-makers.” The more people who join us, the more pressure we can put on major polluters. Polluters are powerful, but together we are stronger.
What will you be doing?
- You will play a coaching and coordinating role within Milieudefensie Jong and facilitate meetings.
- You will ensure smooth collaboration and coordination with other teams and departments within Milieudefensie.
- You will train, coach, and mentor young volunteers and trainees as they develop their talents and carry out their work.
- You’ll help build a community of young change-makers (ages 18–30), fostering engagement, growth, and retention among active young people.
- You will help young people organize their own activities as part of the Milieudefensie campaign.
- You bring groups of young people together and facilitate their interactions so they can learn from and with one another.
What are you bringing?
- You have experience engaging and connecting with young people, working with volunteer groups, and fostering change within a group setting.
- You think strategically and analytically about the role of young people in Milieudefensie’s work and campaigns.
- You offer constructive feedback on how Milieudefensie can evolve into a more inclusive organization where everyone feels welcome and represented.
- You’re a good team player, a good listener, and you know how to inspire others to take action.
- You are able to plan and organize your own work effectively and keep track of teamwork.
- You are flexible, have a hands-on approach, and are willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
Who do you work with?
You will, of course, work closely with the Milieudefensie Jong team and with colleagues from the Movement Building department, such as the group organizers. And when necessary, you will collaborate with colleagues from other teams and departments.
What do we offer?
- A one-year contract with the option to extend.
- A starting salary, depending on your knowledge and experience, ranging from €3,144 to €4,400 for full-time employment. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.

- The option to arrange your work hours flexibly and to swap (Christian) holidays for other holidays.
- A casual and open work environment with enthusiastic colleagues.
- A challenging position in an inspiring and dedicated organization, where you’ll play a key role in shaping a fair and sustainable future.
