We are currently seeking a: Policy Officer for the Food Industry and Climate (0.8 FTE/30 hours).
What will you be doing?
- You will be responsible for developing the substantive basis for our campaign. The goal: to align the policies of major food and agriculture multinationals such as Ahold Delhaize, Unilever, Friesland Campina, and Rabobank with the objectives of the Paris Climate Agreement.
- You commission research and analyze available information based on a research agenda.
- You will provide information and verify facts for articles and other communications related to our "Big Polluters" campaign.
- You will engage in lobbying activities with policymakers and the business community on issues related to the food and agriculture industry, climate policy, and sustainability.
- You will work together with allies, local Milieudefensie groups, and other stakeholders in the climate movement.
- You write articles and memos and give presentations to various audiences.
What are you bringing?
- You are curious and have at least 5 years of work experience in a similar role.
- You know a lot about large companies operating in the food, agriculture, and retail sectors, and you pay particular attention to climate justice.
- You have a network in this industry, or are willing to build one.
- You have experience conducting independent research (or having it conducted).
- You have strong communication skills and are fluent in spoken and written Dutch.
- You have experience working in (interdisciplinary) project teams. Experience with running (public) campaigns is a plus.
- You have acquired an academic level of work and thinking through experience or education.
Who do you work with?
You will be part of the Content & Lobbying Department and report to the department head. On a daily basis, you will work alongside an experienced policy officer specializing in food and agriculture, the campaigners, and other policy officers in the Content & Lobbying Department. In addition, you will collaborate closely in project teams with colleagues from other departments, such as Movement Building and Communications & Fundraising.

- A salary, depending on your knowledge and experience, ranging from €4,004 to €5,072 for full-time employment. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
