About DOEN Participaties
DOEN Participaties B.V. is the investment arm of the DOEN Foundation, funded by the Nationale Postcode Loterij and the VriendenLoterij. For nearly 30 years, we’ve been supporting the transition to a greener and more socially inclusive world by backing innovative startups—both in the Netherlands and abroad—that are driving change in the regenerative economy and social entrepreneurship. We do this through convertible loans, direct equity investments, and fund investments. Impact is at the heart of everything we do.
Our dedicated team currently consists of three Principals, two Investment Managers, one Investment Associate, and one Team Assistant.
What will you be doing?
As an Analyst on the DOEN Participaties team, you’ll play an active role in investments that bring DOEN’s green, social, and creative vision to life. Working closely with your colleagues in a self-managing team, you’ll help maximize the impact of our current portfolio and support the process of evaluating new investments. This includes financial analysis of early-stage startups, market research, and even contract negotiations. You’ll also help identify new, forward-thinking entrepreneurs who could be a great fit for our funding.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has an academic background (university-level thinking and working);
- Has up to 3 years of relevant experience—for example, in venture capital, foundations, or through an internship in the investment or finance sector;
- Feels a strong connection to DOEN Participaties’ mission and values;
- Has an interest in sustainable consumer products (a plus!);
- Is fluent in written and spoken English and, preferably, in Dutch, or willing to learn.
What we offer:
- A motivated and enthusiastic team in an open, collaborative environment where diverse backgrounds foster shared learning;
- A unique impact investing environment that embraces risk and supports entrepreneurs from the very start. We think beyond borders, operate across continents, and welcome fresh ideas;
- A deep dive into the world of impact investing, where you’ll work every day with some of the most pioneering, mission-driven startups. You’ll have the chance to make a real difference and contribute to a more sustainable future;
- Plenty of room for personal initiative and professional growth;
- A competitive salary and attractive benefits package;
- A one-year full-time contract (40 hours per week) with the intention of extending it to a permanent position;
- An NS Business Card for unlimited travel throughout the Netherlands by train, bus, tram, and metro—even outside of work hours;
- Weekly free boot camp, Pilates, and other fitness classes;
- Daily team lunches at our company restaurant.
Where you’ll be working:
You’ll be based in our sustainable office, just a 6-minute walk from Amsterdam Zuid station. About 45 passionate, entrepreneurial, and dedicated colleagues work at the DOEN Foundation and DOEN Participaties, all from diverse backgrounds. We believe diversity fuels creativity, innovation, and collaboration. We warmly welcome applicants from all walks of life—especially if you’ve ever felt less included in the job market because of your gender or sexual identity, religion, age, background, or ability.
The application process
The process includes three interviews, a case study, and an assessment.
Because integrity and responsible behavior are essential to our organization, a Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required to join Stichting DOEN. Unfortunately, candidates without a valid VOG will not be considered for the position.
