The world’s largest Mondrian collection. Considered by many to be the most beautiful museum building in the Netherlands. And no fewer than thirty-five exhibitions a year. This makes the Kunstmuseum Den Haag one of the most beloved museums for modern and contemporary visual art, fashion, and applied art in the Netherlands. The adjacent Fotomuseum Den Haag and KM21 are also part of the Kunstmuseum.
The Marketing & Communications department is a key part of this dynamic organization, and you will be leading it. With vision and a well-thought-out strategy, you will set the overall direction and ensure that the department—comprising about twelve employees—functions optimally and collaborates effectively with other departments. In everything you do, you will build the brands of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Fotomuseum Den Haag, and KM21, and you will know how to reinforce the sense of identity, humanity, and wonder surrounding these museums. You serve as a sparring partner for the executive board, other department heads, fundraisers, and relationship managers. You are also part of the Management Team and maintain contacts with partners and other cultural institutions. You report to the Executive Director and are responsible for the budget of all units within the Marcom department.
The team—comprising public relations, marketing, planning, and the museum shop—is working to position the Kunstmuseum Den Haag. This begins with promoting the exhibition program to various target audiences and strengthening the Kunstmuseum, Fotomuseum, and KM21 brands both nationally and internationally. In addition to running campaigns and generating media attention, the department plays an active role in developing podcasts, audio tours, and ancillary programming. Campaigns and activities are analyzed and optimized based on collected data. Our colleagues in planning handle communications with schools and organizations that visit the museum in groups. You will have final responsibility for online ticket sales, the websites, and social media channels of the Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Fotomuseum Den Haag, and KM21.
We are looking for a connector. Someone with extensive experience in a strategic role in marketing and communications, who can motivate the department’s staff through coaching and foster their professional growth. You are innovative and creative, with an affinity for the visual and applied arts. You are flexible, enterprising, and results-oriented, with an eye for the museum’s content. You inspire those around you: your colleagues as well as external stakeholders. You are attuned to developments in society and have an eye for trends in marketing and the creative field. At the same time, you serve as the point of contact for our controller: you keep our finances in order, ensure that inspiring annual plans—including balanced budgets—are ready on time, and back everything up with solid data.
