As a Senior Safety Specialist (HVK), you ensure that safety is an integral part of our organization and of society. With your expertise in occupational safety, risk management, and laws and regulations, you make a difference—both within the safety region/fire department and beyond.
As a Senior Safety Specialist at the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you serve as the link between policy and practice in the field of occupational safety. You will work in a dynamic environment where physical and operational risks are part of the daily routine. You see it as your mission to manage these risks, raise colleagues’ awareness of safe behavior, and implement structural improvements within the organization. In doing so, you will collaborate with operational teams, the internal Health & Safety Advisor, policy advisors, and managers to ensure safety in everything we do.
Specifically, your responsibilities will include:
Forming an opinion
You carefully weigh risks, interests, and facts, even under time pressure. You provide clear recommendations that are both practical and well-reasoned.
Persuasiveness
You know how to get people on board with your safety vision, even when that requires a change in behavior. You move easily between different levels of the organization.
Collaborate
You actively seek to connect with colleagues both within and outside the fire department. You understand that safety issues are never isolated and involve others in finding solutions.
Analytical skills
You have a keen understanding of complex situations and can quickly identify the root cause of a safety issue. You translate analyses into concrete improvement measures and policies.
Organizational sensitivity
You understand how a public organization works and know when to take decisive action or, conversely, to seek consensus. You are attuned to political and administrative dynamics and know how to effectively position security within that context.
At the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you can work with a great team where you’ll have opportunities to grow in your role.
