The Private Fundraising team at Amref Flying Doctors is responsible for recruiting and retaining individual donors. Due to the expansion of the team, we are looking for a Private Market Fundraiser.
The team you’ll be working in consists of individual donors, senior loyalty and acquisition fundraisers, online marketers, a database specialist, a data analyst, and client relationship managers. You’ll report to the individual fundraising manager and also collaborate with the communications and programs teams.

Amref is working to build a healthy and strong Africa. Because when people are healthy, they are better able to take care of themselves and escape poverty. Amref is the largest African health organization; we implement programs in 35 countries, reaching 10 million people each year.
Amref has 11 fundraising offices in Europe and North America, with the Netherlands being one of the largest. Since 1957, we have been training healthcare workers in Africa and providing quality medical facilities, basic healthcare, and health education. We also engage with African governments, as we want to ensure that improvements in healthcare are sustainable.
What will you be doing?
- You are responsible for recruiting and retaining individual donors through face-to-face and telephone outreach;
- Using data, you will develop campaigns and activities for the face-to-face and telemarketing channels;
- You closely follow market developments and innovations and test new ideas. Amref focuses on donors, so in your work you prioritize not only your organization’s mission but also the donor at all times;
- You will create monthly, quarterly, and annual plans and monitor the budget for the channels you are responsible for;
- Together with your fellow fundraisers, you are responsible for the customer journeys within your channels;
- You will be (jointly) responsible for procuring services and contracts that fall under your purview;
- You analyze campaigns and Excel reports, create them, and improve them as needed.
What do you bring to the table?
- College or university level of work and thinking;
- Critical thinker with strong analytical skills and a knack for numbers, extensive experience with Excel;
- At least two years of work experience in fundraising. Experience with face-to-face or telemarketing is a plus;
- Experience with data-driven work;
- Commercial acumen and a customer-focused attitude;
- Strong purchasing and negotiation skills;
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in Dutch and English.
