You are…

To succeed as a Financial Accountant, you should have extensive knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting, as well as experience in a similar environment. The ideal candidate will be someone whose expertise in financial accounting and business management drives sustained business growth. They will provide financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data and preparing reports.

You will…

• Work closely with the Director of Finance to prepare the month-end reporting package by the Group’s deadlines;
• Ensure that all balance sheet reconciliations are completed each month;
• Process month-end journal entries, including payroll, depreciation, overheads, accruals, and prepayments;
• Be primarily responsible for the timely submission of all required returns to various authorities, including VAT returns and EU statistics (Intrastat);
• Have primary responsibility for the year-end statutory financial statements and the audit process;
• Communicate with funders, grant providers, suppliers, banks, auditors, accountants/payroll providers, the Dutch tax authority (Belastingdienst), and government agencies;
• Provide accounting support to our portfolio companies;
• Maintain internal controls by developing and recommending policies and procedures;
• Oversee accounting procedures and supervise junior staff in the finance department.

Accountant Qualifications / Skills:

• Extensive knowledge of accounting standards (Dutch GAAP, IFRS) and financial regulations;
• Strong mathematical and analytical skills;
• Exceptional attention to detail;
• Proficiency in business management and accounting software, such as AFAS, QuickBooks, and Power BI, is a plus;
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills;
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

You have…

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in tax, accounting, or finance; CMA and/or CFA certification is preferred;
• At least three years of experience as a company accountant or in a similar role;
• Experience working with multiple legal entities under different legal structures;
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and a proven track record of success in complex business settings, collaborating on a project basis with the business at various levels;
• Able to work both independently and as part of a team;
• Ability to create structure and provide a clear overview;
• In addition, the ideal candidate is a people person, has excellent communication skills, is fluent in Dutch and English, and has a good sense of humor.
