KRO-NCRV is a social media organization within the public broadcasting sector. Our programs are characterized by quality, respect, engagement, authenticity, and innovation. Our organization is at the heart of society, where we bring people together through moving, inspiring, and sometimes critical stories that take a bold stance and challenge taboos. We are looking for people who want to contribute to this mission.
Since 1990, *Spoorloos* has been moving viewers with its search for lost family members and loved ones. Starting this fall, the program will have a new format, focusing on the personal stories of those searching. Their questions, emotions, and life journeys will be highlighted. We still bring people together who have lost touch with one another, but now we also tell the stories of people who have lost each other over the course of their lives. Thanks in part to extensive DNA testing, we are able to facilitate extraordinary, surprising, and emotional reunions time and time again.
As the Executive Editor of Spoorloos, you are the creative and business driving force behind the program and are responsible for leading the editorial team.
You will oversee the editorial direction and manage the ongoing development of the program and online content. Together with the reporters, editors, and the production team, you will ensure a smooth workflow. You will coach the team and serve as the link between the editorial department and the business side. In collaboration with the Production Manager, you will monitor the budget and ensure the professional and efficient execution of the program. In this role, you will report to the Human Interest Producer.
With your experience as an Executive Editor on human interest programs, you know how to turn complex research into compelling television. You have extensive experience in developing creative content concepts and in leading, guiding, coaching, and motivating a production team. You possess an academic level of work and thinking and are able to work both independently and as part of a team.
You have strong organizational skills, can handle stress well, and are flexible. You view working outside regular office hours and/or on weekends as a natural part of this dynamic role. In addition, you have an unerring sense of the current social climate and know which issues make a difference.
Experience with DNA research is a major plus, and you’d be open to working on other human-interest stories as well.
