Instructor for the Applied Psychology program

The Faculty of Society and Law at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences is at the heart of society. Through challenging education and practice-oriented research in the fields of people, behavior, and law, the faculty contributes to the continuous innovation of professional practice. 7,500 students are enrolled in associate, bachelor’s, or master’s programs. The Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) is currently seeking a Lecturer for the Applied Psychology program (0.8 FTE)

What will you be doing?

As an Applied Psychology instructor, you will guide students in developing the skills they need to become entry-level professionals. Students work on realistic assignments from professional practice, supported by lectures, training sessions, assessments, and guidance for projects, internships, and/or graduation projects. We deliver our education as much as possible within Learning Communities, where you collaborate with other instructors to deliver and shape the curriculum. What are you bringing?

We are looking for new colleagues with a background in psychology or the social sciences. A bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirement. Teaching experience and a Basic Teaching Qualification (BDB) are preferred. You must be available at least 4 days a week, including Fridays. You have a professional network and an eye for relevant external developments. You are a team player, work independently, and take responsibility for organizing your own and your colleagues’ work. You are able to handle stress and manage peak workloads effectively. 

Where will you be working?

The Applied Psychology program has approximately 1,250 students and about 65 dedicated staff members, most of whom are university-trained psychologists. The team is energetic, and there is a positive atmosphere. The Applied Psychology program collaborates closely with the “Psychology for a Sustainable City” research group and has recently launched a master’s program in “climate psychology and behavior.”

What do we offer?

• This position corresponds to the HAY job profile for Lecturer/Researcher 3, pay scale 10 (HBO collective bargaining agreement);
• A salary of up to €4,569.57 gross per month for a full-time position, depending on work experience.
• A fixed-term employment contract with the possibility of conversion to a permanent contract. Conversion to a permanent contract after 1 or 2 years is contingent upon satisfactory performance. The duration of the contract depends on the length of the probationary period.
