The program collaborates with the Arts Education research group and maintains close ties with the professional field.
The Master’s program in Art Education is administered by the Breitner Academy, which is part of the Amsterdam University of the Arts (AHK), a higher professional education institution for the arts offering programs at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.
The Master’s Program
in Art Education is seeking a:
Research Instructor, effective September 1, 2022
Who are you?
You are an experienced faculty member who enjoys guiding students in their
research. You are an enthusiastic and proactive person. And you
are able to adapt your teaching style—whether coaching-oriented or more
lecture-based—depending on the learning situation, and you enjoy working with a co-instructor.
What do you bring to the table?
You have a relevant master’s degree and relevant
work experience; a current PhD program or a completed PhD is a plus. You have
extensive experience conducting or supervising social science research and
are familiar with current developments in the arts, education, and/or
arts education.
What will you be doing?
You will teach literature review and empirical research to both first-year
and second-year students in the program. You will guide them in conducting
small-scale qualitative research in the field of arts education. This
research may be evaluative, design-based, descriptive, diagnostic, comparative, or
(partially) artistic.
Literature reviews are usually conducted individually, while empirical research is done in
pairs. For literature reviews, you will provide guidance on defining
the topic and research question, searching for, analyzing, and synthesizing relevant
literature, and correctly citing sources (APA). In addition,
you will guide students in designing, conducting, and reporting on a
(practice-oriented) empirical study and assess the individual
studies.
