De Balie is currently seeking a development assistant (32 hours per week).
De Balie believes that an open, pluralistic, democratic society governed by the rule of law is the best kind of society. This belief guides everything we create, do, and undertake. Through our programs, we bring people together and foster dialogue, even when the topics are difficult. Encounter and the free exchange of ideas are central to our journalistic and artistic productions. Every day, De Balie organizes programs on current events in an artistic format, which can be followed live via livestream—in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and internationally.
De Balie operates on the belief that the performing arts are an excellent way to encourage the public to engage in introspection, empathy, reflection, and new insights. We create our programs with a diverse editorial team of nearly twenty program curators who give free rein to new ideas and initiatives and by collaborating with speakers and organizations from all walks of life and every corner of the globe.
As an incubator and catalyst for empowerment, De Balie is the place where artists, emerging talents, thinkers, scientists, activists, politicians, and the public come together and connect.
De Balie consists of a dedicated team of approximately 100 colleagues. Within De Balie, the Development Department is responsible for securing the balanced mix of funding needed to achieve De Balie’s goals. The department oversees grants, endowments, donors, and corporate partnerships, among other areas. The current team works closely together and consists of four colleagues; the deputy director leads the Development Department.
Diversity and inclusion are core principles within our organization. This is embedded in our hiring policy. We expect candidates to contribute to a more inclusive learning and working environment.
