More about this organization
A modern office building belonging to the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, located on the waterfront with fire trucks and boats parked in front.

The Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region (AA) is looking for a Data and Integration Specialist. As a Data and Integration Specialist, you will ensure that our systems work together seamlessly, that data flows securely, and that data connections are managed. Thanks to you, the organization can rely on accurate information.

Are you familiar with the world of Data & Information? Do you know how to use data connections, technology, and infrastructure to optimally support data-driven workflows and business processes? Are you able to connect with colleagues, inspire them, and deliver valuable data and information products? Then we’re looking for you!

What will you be doing?

As a Data and Integration Specialist, you are the driving force behind our digital backbone. You develop, improve, and monitor connections—such as APIs—between our systems and ensure a future-proof information landscape. You are responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the middleware layer that primarily connects our five core systems to our central data warehouse. Your work forms the backbone of our data-driven decision-making and enables teams to gain real-time insights through dashboards and reports.

With a strong background in either systems administration or application management, this IT professional brings valuable experience from a variety of industries. You combine in-depth knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, network technologies, and HR, financial, scheduling, and skills management applications with a proactive attitude and a keen eye for process optimization. Thanks to your experience in coordination and support within IT environments, you know how to efficiently manage our environments and effectively support your colleagues.

When interacting with suppliers, stakeholders, and end users, you maintain a strong focus on the setup, use, and improvement of the capabilities offered by system integrations—all to support business processes. You configure, monitor, and document the operation of these integrations, and are able to resolve any issues that arise. Colleagues from across the organization can come to you with questions. You are able to translate their needs into the system design and provide them with explanations, guidance, or advice so that they (continue to) see the added value. We rely heavily on all internal departments to do our work effectively.

Your versatility and hands-on approach make you a reliable asset for any team seeking a stable, forward-looking IT infrastructure. In other words: a robust and secure system of connections that supports data exchange and ensures business continuity.

Who are you?

  • You think ahead and provide input on strategic decisions regarding data and integration.
  • You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, are results-oriented, and are able to effectively manage your availability and time;
  • You take the initiative, demonstrate ownership, and take pride in your work.

You'll recognize yourself in this

  • HBO-level education and thinking skills; preferably a completed HBO degree in Business Administration or Computer Science.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing data integrations, such as APIs, middleware, webhooks, and iPaaS.
  • Knowledge of monitoring and securing data flows.
  • Knowledge of frameworks such as BiSL and ITIL
  • You translate the business's functional requirements into technical solutions.
  • Knowledge of ETL/ELT and data analysis tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of functional management.
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, or PowerShell for data transformations
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure environments, and Power BI
  • Knowledge of AFAS, Business Central, or similar ERP systems
  • Understanding data warehouse concepts and dimensional modeling

Here's what you'll get from us

At the Amsterdam-Amstelland Safety Region, you can work with a great team where you’ll have opportunities to grow in your role.

  • Salary in pay grade 10a ranging from €3,935 to €5,748 per month, based on a 36-hour workweek
  • A job for 32–36 hours a week
  • An individual flexible spending account (IFSA) equal to 18.63% of the gross annual salary. This includes the year-end bonus and vacation pay
  • 187.2 hours of leave based on a 36-hour workweek, including 43.2 hours of overtime. May 1 and 5 are fixed days off (10.3 hours); these are included in this total.
  • A one-year appointment, with the possibility of a permanent position
  • A generous pension plan through ABP, 70% of which is paid by us
  • The option to work remotely with a work-from-home allowance of €3 per day
  • Monthly health insurance premium
  • Free access to all sports facilities and classes at the fire stations
  • We place a strong emphasis on (personal) development, offering opportunities to participate in courses, training sessions, and workshops.
  • The opportunity to take on an on-call position in addition to your regular job.

The Team

Hierarchically, this position reports to the Information Services (IV) Department Manager within the Information and Innovation (I&I) division.
