Theater Rotterdam is looking for a Sales & Relationship Coordinator.
The words 'I am because of you' capture the vision of Theater Rotterdam (TR) in a nutshell. The awareness that all interactions with others make us human gives TR its direction. Since 2021, under the leadership of artistic director Alida Dors, we embrace polyphony. In our artistic practice, different voices, languages and forms come together. From our makers, but also from our audience as co-creators. It is our mission to make differences productive and to let them enrich one another. As a theatre, we are the director of encounters, we create frameworks for temporary but memorable fusions of worlds. As one of the largest theatre companies in the Netherlands, TR can be seen on national and international stages and festivals. We are a home for established, mid-career theatre makers as well as emerging ones. They make innovative and non-conformist theatre in which the present moment is palpable. What unites them is reciprocity: from each person's perspective, we work together on what theatre can mean. TR is a place where different truths and perspectives are heard. Dialogue and debate are prerequisites for truly allowing polyphony to resonate. TR's workplace is equally characterised by an interplay of cultures, knowledge and experience.
The Artistic Office is the artistic heart of the organization. This is where creators’ plans are turned into concrete, operational plans. The Artistic Office brings together artistic development, production, planning, sales, and audience engagement. This is where productions and tours take shape and where we build our audience in the Netherlands and beyond. As Sales & Relations Coordinator, you play a central role in connecting our productions with theaters, festivals, and other potential venues.
The Sales & Relations Coordinator provides direction and oversees the sales of productions, builds and maintains long-term relationships with theaters and festivals both domestically and internationally, and contributes to the consistent and strong positioning of our productions in the industry. Based on market and sales insights, you advise on the seasonal planning and translate this, in consultation with colleagues within the Artistic Office, into a coherent sales strategy. You play a coordinating role in the preparation and presentation of the seasonal program and monitor the quality and consistency of sales materials in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications department and other relevant disciplines. In addition, you ensure clear sales agreements with venues and monitor the accuracy and completeness of sales administration. You coordinate tour planning and feasibility and relay relevant information and insights from the field back to internal colleagues. In doing so, you contribute to strong alignment between sales, production, audience engagement, and marketing. You navigate easily between artistic content, practical feasibility, and relational coordination, and serve as a key link between Theater Rotterdam and its performance partners.
A substantive and independent role at the heart of a leading theater, where we work together to shape the future of the performing arts. You will be part of an organization that operates with a team-first mindset: working together, learning, and with room for initiative. There is opportunity to contribute ideas at the strategic level and actively help shape Theater Rotterdam’s positioning and visibility on the national and international stage.
The terms of employment are in accordance with the Collective Labor Agreement for Theater & Dance. This is an initial one-year appointment, with the possibility of extension. The position is for 24 hours per week (3 days), and the preferred start date is the week of April 20, 2026.
We want to be an organization that reflects the diversity of Rotterdam, and we are working toward building teams that bring together a variety of experiences and perspectives.
Does this position appeal to you, and would you like to help strengthen Theater Rotterdam’s standing and visibility? Or do you see yourself in parts of the profile and view this as an opportunity for further professional development? If so, please submit your cover letter and resume by March 8 at the latest via https://werkenbij.theaterrotterdam.nl.
The first round of interviews will take place on Thursday, March 12, and the second round on Thursday, March 19. If you have any questions about the position, please contact Djoere de Jong, Head of the Artistic Office: djoere.dejong@theaterrotterdam.nl.
