The Jan van Eyck Academy is seeking a Residency Support & Program Coordinator to join its team. The coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day tasks related to supporting the annual cohort of participants and organizing the Jan van Eyck Academy’s internal and public programs.
The coordinator works closely with the participating artists, writers, designers, and other artistic researchers who spend a year at the academy. In addition to working with participants, this role requires teamwork within the academy as well as collaboration with external partners.
As a multidisciplinary post-academy, the Jan van Eyck in Maastricht offers residencies to artists, designers—ranging from graphic and fashion design to food and social design—writers, curators, and architects from around the world. Each participant is given the time, space, and expertise needed to further develop their own artistic practice. The Jan van Eyck Academy is both a place for research and experimentation and a venue for (public) debate and cross-pollination. Here, self-development goes hand in hand with intensive collaboration and exchange.
Participants have access to all the facilities and expertise of the Labs and partner institutions. With guidance and support from (guest) advisors and academy staff, approximately 36 participants will spend 11 months working on their individual projects, as well as on collaborative activities and contributions to the Jan van Eyck Academy’s (public) program.
The Residency Support & Program Coordinator is deeply committed to fostering a warm, inclusive residency environment within an international context.
Together with two direct colleagues, the coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management of participant support, the organization of projects initiated by participants or colleagues, and the coordination of in-house external events. Duties range from scheduling studio visits by (guest) advisors to producing the Open Studios, from providing policy advice to the administration to handling the administrative processing of production budgets. The coordinator plays a connecting role, builds lasting relationships, and keeps the various interests within the academy community in mind.
