The Zaantheater is the premier venue for the Zaan region, offering a wide range of professional performances. We also provide a platform for amateur productions from the Zaan region, city-wide programming, and festivals we produce ourselves. We are also happy to serve the corporate market with conferences, events, and parties. Our theater features two auditoriums (879 and 230 seats), several lobbies, and a restaurant overlooking the Zaan River. The organization consists of 27 full-time staff members, a flexible pool of hospitality staff, and 70 volunteers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic programmer with creative ideas to join us on January 1, 2023 (or sooner!) to further develop our diverse program. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire programming process, working from a jointly developed vision for all programming components. In addition to programming professional performances, you will serve as a program developer. You will engage specific target audiences and community organizations in our performances. Together with our city programmers, you will devise concepts for festivals, and you will act as a sounding board for cultural projects, including those in the amateur sector. Your scope of work is broad, so you won’t be working alone. We’re curious to know which genres you feel most connected to. In addition, we will be working with specialist programmers who focus on a specific target audience or genre. Together, we will find the optimal balance between content and audience reach, allowing you to create opportunities for extraordinary and unique offerings.
What will you be doing?
You will work with the management team to develop theprogramming policy. This will form the basis for the seasonal program. You will work closely with management, department heads, city programmers, and programming specialists to devise and curate original programs, projects, and festivals, as well as provide creative content for corporate events and community projects. You will draft grant proposals to support the programming budget.
