You know better than anyone how to inspire students to get involved in the climate movement. You engage them in Milieudefensie’s work through their own academic programs. Does that sound like something you’d be interested in? If so, we have a great job for you.
We are currently seeking an: Educational Institutions Coordinator (0.8 FTE/30 hours)
Through education, we hope to reach young people who might otherwise be less likely to come into contact with Fair Future Generators/Milieudefensie. Because we have found that collaborating with educational institutions is time-consuming and that each type of education requires its own approach, we have decided to invest in our relationship with universities of applied sciences over the next three years.
What will you be doing?
- You will develop a strategic plan for sustainable collaboration between Fair Future Generators (FFG, Milieudefensie’s Community Service Program) and Dutch educational institutions (specifically universities of applied sciences). As a result, the number of FFG participants will increase nationwide.
- You will implement this tactical plan and serve as the point of contact for universities of applied sciences within FFG. At the same time, you will ensure that responsibility for liaising with universities of applied sciences is shared more broadly within the FFG team.
- You will help ensure that young people want to remain active in Milieudefensie’s movement for change after participating in FFG, for example through Milieudefensie Jong or a local group.
- Within the national Community Service Network, you’ll share experiences, which will help improve FFG’s collaboration with universities of applied sciences.
What are you bringing?
- Extensive experience in education for young people aged 18 to 30, particularly at community colleges: you understand the educational needs that FFG can address, as well as what appeals to and is needed by students and faculty
- A network (preferably nationwide) within universities of applied sciences
- You’re a good team player, a good listener, and you know how to inspire others to take action.
- You are able to plan and organize your own work effectively and keep track of your role in the team.
Who do you work with?
You will work closely with your colleagues in the Movement Development and Communications teams and report to one of the coordinators in the Movement Development department.
What do we offer?
- A one-year contract with the option to renew.
- A salary ranging from €3,315 to €4,455 for full-time employment, depending on your knowledge and experience. At Milieudefensie, this is a 37.5-hour workweek.
- A temporary gross allowance of €100 for full-time employees (this allowance will remain in effect until the new job and pay structure is implemented).
- Your own laptop that you take home with you every day, so you can work from home as well.
- The ability to arrange your work hours flexibly.
- The option to exchange (Christian) holidays for other holidays.
- A casual and open work environment with enthusiastic colleagues.
- A sufficient travel allowance, work-from-home allowance, and leave policy.
- An office in the heart of Amsterdam, easily accessible by bike and public transportation.
- A vegan lunch twice a week for a small fee.
Milieudefensie staff work partly from home. We meet both online and in the office.
We believe in the power of diversity and strive to build a diverse workforce with balanced representation across gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, and ethnic background. That is why we especially encourage people from groups that are underrepresented within the climate movement to apply.
