The Valkhof Museum connects contemporary art and culture with the richness of the past. Drawing inspiration from the Roman Limes, the Valkhof Museum is a leading, groundbreaking museum exploring the human experience on the frontier. In collaboration with our visitors, we organize exhibitions and activities in the fields of archaeology, history, and visual arts. Through a contemporary lens, we connect the past with the near future. In this way, we offer you a new perspective on the world.
The Valkhof Museum is currently undergoing a major renovation. The museum is being extensively renovated and will reopen at the end of 2025. Until then, the museum is located at its temporary site at Keizer Karelplein 33.
The nearby Museum Kam serves as our research center for Gelderland archaeology. And our colleagues at the Gelderland Archaeological Depot are responsible for the care of Gelderland’s archaeological finds, on behalf of the province of Gelderland. In 2025, a new depot will be built to house this collection. It will be the largest archaeological depot in the Netherlands.
