Do you enjoy inspiring others through (classical) music? Do you enjoy collaborating with schools, cultural organizations, and community groups to introduce children, teens, and adults to the orchestra and classical music? If so, we’re looking for you!
The North Netherlands Orchestra is a versatile symphony orchestra. Each season, we give an average of 130 concerts in 13 concert halls across the northern Netherlands and the Randstad. We perform with national and international conductors, soloists, and other guest musicians. The NNO consists of 71 orchestra members and 24 staff members.
We perform the symphonic repertoire at a high level in thoughtfully curated programs. We enjoy reaching out to our audience in concert halls, outdoors at festivals such as Lowlands and Groningens Ontzet, at schools, and at other venues.
In the field of education, we work with and for students of all grades in primary, secondary, and special education, both in schools and in concert halls throughout the North. Education and participation play a central role at the NNO. That is why we actively collaborate with schools (from elementary through vocational education), as well as cultural and community organizations. They are often involved in program development as well.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A
0.67–0.89 FTE (average of 28–32 hours per week)
As the Education & Participation Coordinator, you will be responsible for conceiving, developing, and organizing (or having organized) school concerts, community projects, and (online) programs for children, young people, and adults.
Working in collaboration with the orchestra members, you will shape and develop the education and participation policy through ongoing dialogue with—and based on the needs and perspectives of—our partners in the northern region. These include educational institutions, provincial and municipal arts and culture funding agencies, HaFaBra, amateur groups, dance and theater companies, and community centers. You are responsible for the implementation of this policy and the associated budget. In addition, as a driving force, you are responsible for establishing, implementing, and executing our diversity and inclusion policy. You contribute to achieving the substantive objectives outlined in the NNO’s long-term vision.
We develop a diverse and challenging program for our target audiences. You will work closely with the artistic director/programmer and the Audience & Marketing and Orchestra Affairs teams. You will seek out external partners, initiate programs and projects, assess educational, programmatic, and financial feasibility, and participate in the national network of orchestras.
You will be part of the Audience & Market team and will provide functional supervision to the Education & Participation staff member. As the project manager, you will make arrangements with (external) project leaders regarding project resources (both in terms of content and funding), supervise the project leaders, and prepare project budgets.
The NNO strives to be a diverse organization, so it doesn’t matter to us where you were born, what you believe in, or who you love. We’re curious about your talents and how you can make a difference for our organization. Our doors and job openings are open to everyone.
This position is being advertised both internally and externally. In the event of equal qualifications, internal candidates will be given preference. Solicitation in response to this job posting is not appreciated.
