About Limelight
Based in Amsterdam, the Limelight Foundation (Limelight) is an independent philanthropic organization dedicated to supporting the information ecosystem. We fund and support journalism and civil society organizations working across Europe in two key areas:
1) Public Interest Journalism. We support public interest journalism to ensure that accurate, relevant, and diverse information is available.
2) Technology & the Information Ecosystem. We support civil society organizations that work to ensure that technology strengthens rather than harms the information ecosystem.
Since our founding in 2021, we have made over 100 donations totaling €21.5 million. We currently have 50 active grantee partnerships.
About the role
We have ambitious plans to scale up our support for the information ecosystem and expand our grantmaking in the coming years, with the goal of bringing together a collective of like-minded funders who wish to help strengthen the information ecosystem. Working closely with the Director and the rest of Limelight’s small but growing team, the Communications & Partnerships Manager will play a key role in expanding our reach and developing new strategic funding partnerships.
Main responsibilities
Revenue Growth & Partnership Management
- Together with the Director, yo significantly grow and diversify our income- s by identifying new funding partnerships , and preparing communication materials in various formats tailored to different potential funding partners.
- Together with the Director, manage relationships with existing and prospective funding partners and other stakeholders, for example by preparing quarterly updates.
Marketing, Brand, and Communications
- Website & Brand. Lead the development of a new website and a compelling brand to raise our international profile. This includes identifying service providers to handle the creative and technical aspects of these processes, and collaborating with existing IT and online suppliers. Oversee the entire process to result in a relaunched Limelight brand and website.
- External Communications. Maintain and strategically expand Limelight’s online and social media presence, including through regular social media and website updates, contributing articles to external publications, and developing relevant online and social media strategies as needed. Ensure that the Limelight brand is consistently applied in all internal and external communication materials.
- Annual Report. Oversee the production of Limelight’s annual report by collaborating with the rest of the team, grantee partners, board members, external designers, and editors. Organize dissemination plans and outreach.
- Events. Organize events, networking dinners, or roundtable meetings as appropriate.
- Other. Perform other duties appropriate to the position. As a member of a small but growing team, this includes assisting other staff as needed and performing occasional administrative tasks.
Job Description
Essential
- At least five years of work experience in a relevant role, such as communications, fundraising, and/or partnership development.
- A college degree or equivalent is preferred, but we recognize the value of real-world work experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, along with the ability to translate complex ideas and work into simple, impactful, and engaging messages tailored to different audiences.
- Experience in creating, editing, and distributing content for a variety of communication channels, including social media posts, website articles, impact stories, quarterly updates, etc.
- An enthusiastic networker who is comfortable representing Limelight to external parties.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage a varied workload, handle competing priorities, and meet deadlines.
- A proactive, can-do, and flexible attitude.
- A good understanding of our work and a commitment to our mission.
- High level of personal integrity.
- Right to work in the Netherlands.
Desirable
- Good working knowledge of Dutch or other languages.
- Experience working in the nonprofit, foundation, or philanthropic sector, or in an international media environment.
- Previous experience in redesigning and managing websites, including SEO, analytics, and/or rebranding.

- A competitive salary of up to EUR 80,000 per year, based on full-time employment, depending on your background and experience
