Are you a communications professional who believes that powerful storytelling can drive systemic change for people and the planet? Both ENDS would love to meet you!
About Both ENDS
Both ENDS is an environmental justice mobilizer, combining advocacy and policy expertise to transform unjust systems worldwide, while strengthening the power of civil society to lead this change. From advocacy to implementation, Both ENDS transforms systems that profoundly impact people and our planet, including trade, finance, and beyond. In collaboration with a network of over 500 partners across Latin America, Africa, and Asia, Both ENDS connects local voices to global decision-makers to build new systems that prioritize environmental integrity and community livelihoods.
We are an internationally oriented organization based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. With a team of about 25 people, we operate in a self-organized manner—valuing decentralized decision-making, individual ownership and leadership, and an open feedback culture. We foster a culture of care and collaboration within our team.
What you will do
You will be our all-around communications professional, responsible for developing our communications strategy, creating content, and establishing a compelling, targeted presence on social media and news outlets to convey our messages to a global audience of partners, funders, and policymakers. In this role, you will:
- work closely with content specialists and our director to shape how we strategically position ourselves and how we articulate our vision of an environmentally just world;
- be responsible for day-to-day communication tasks in close collaboration with content specialists, including writing content such as press releases, newsletters, website and social media posts, and brochures;
- coach, support, and inspire colleagues to communicate externally by editing their content and helping them find the right tone and platforms;
- be responsible for the communication strategy and budget, and ensure consistency in our organization-wide messaging and communication;
- play a leading role in launching and implementing Both ENDS’ new visual identity and website, both of which are currently under development and are expected to launch this year;
- proactively reach out to Dutch and international press and media outlets to build relationships and secure coverage for our work, serving as the primary press contact for inquiries and interviews;
- be responsible for coordinating the development of our annual report.
What you bring
We are looking for someone who rolls up their sleeves and gets things done, working alongside our team, with the following profile:
- A proactive and hands-on approach;
- Proven track record of working on global environmental justice issues, local realities, and the communication needs of international NGOs;
- Proven ability to translate complex information into engaging and persuasive communications and messages;
- Demonstrable, extensive experience in communications, including editing, strategy development, social media, press relations, and staying abreast of trends and developments in the field;
- A team player who enjoys coaching colleagues on their communication tasks;
- Experience working in environments where you need to balance the interests of multiple stakeholders;
- Experience working in multicultural and international settings, and the ability to engage comfortably with partners in the Global South and stakeholders across different cultural, political, and geographic contexts;
- Experience with basic graphic design tools is a plus;
- Full professional fluency in written and spoken English and a good command of Dutch (or a willingness to develop this). Additional languages are a plus, but not required.
We believe in the power of diverse perspectives and actively seek to attract talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from historically underrepresented groups. We encourage both experienced professionals and those who are motivated to take the next step in their careers to apply.
