About the SER

TheSocial and Economic Council (SER)advises the government and parliament on the broad outlines of social and economic policy. The SER also facilitates agreements and covenants and performs administrative tasks. Independent members appointed by the Crown, employers, and employees work together within the SER. The organization has approximately 140 full-time equivalents (FTEs), and there is an informal atmosphere within the organization. The SER offers considerable scope for personal responsibility and choice in work assignments.

About the Communications Department

The Communications Department is responsible for the SER’s corporate communications, including press relations and public speaking, organizing meetings, editing and designing publications, corporate identity, and internet and intranet sites, as well as for the documentation collection, providing information, and knowledge transfer. The Communications Department advises on communications with various target groups and ensures their implementation through various media.

About the role

You will be part of the Communications Advisory and Spokesperson Team, which is part of the Communications Department. The team consists of 9 communications advisors. Your primary focus will be on communications related to diversity, and more specifically the SERDiversity Portaland SERTop Women. The SER advocates for more women and more people with a non-Western migration background in top leadership positions in the business world. In your role as a communications advisor, you will help foster collaboration between various parties and support companies in their diversity policies.

In addition, you will play an advisory role in SER recommendations and projects, working alongside policy staff to ensure that these projects and recommendations have an impact on the right target groups. You will collaborate with fellow communications advisors and content specialists. You will report to the Head of Communications.

What will you be doing?

  • You will provide guidance on how communication can help ensure the effective implementation of our recommendations and projects.
  • You will develop communication plans, implement them, and monitor their impact.
  • You will write, produce, and coordinate targeted communications such as newsletters, press releases, corporate publications, and (online) articles. You will provide content specialists with material for social media posts.
  • You are adept at responding to public discourse and are able to proactively and creatively bring issues to the attention of relevant media (PR) and stakeholders.
  • You will answer questions from the press, coordinate press inquiries, and draft press releases.
  • You organize webinars and other (online) meetings, set up video productions, and provide advice on concept development for infographics and other communication materials.
  • You work at both the strategic and operational levels and are able to provide sound advice and persuade others.

Who are you?

  • You have at least a college-level education and thinking skills.
  • You have at least several years of work experience as a communications advisor in a political and administrative setting and/or extensive experience in the business world dealing with various stakeholders.
  • You have knowledge of and/or an interest in the topic ofDiversity and Inclusion.
  • You have the ability to convince various stakeholders of your ideas and viewpoints in an inspiring and tactful manner, even in complex situations.
  • Your results-oriented approach allows you to set priorities effectively, maintain a clear overview, and stay motivated as you work toward achieving (shared) goals.
  • By nature, you are a (pro)active networker who excels at building and maintaining relationships for the common good and who draws energy from doing so.
  • You have excellent writing skills and a strong command of both Dutch and English.
  • You are and will remain up to date on the latest developments in the field and have knowledge and experience with online and social media.

What do we offer you?

This is a position for a minimum of 32 hours and a maximum of 38 hours per week, initially for one year, with the prospect of permanent employment. The salary depends on your knowledge and experience and ranges from a minimum of €4,319 to a maximum of €5,677 gross per month for full-time employment (38 hours). The first interviews will take place on October 23, and the second interviews on October 28. A writing assignment is part of the application process.
