Are you a creative, well-rounded, hands-on communications consultant? As a communications consultant, do you enjoy advocating for socially relevant issues and want to contribute to effective citizenship education? If so, this position is the challenge you’re looking for.
School & Safety is the leading center of expertise for social safety in schools. As a national platform, we provide schools with information and support to promote a socially safe school environment. The Citizenship Expertise Center assists schools in fulfilling their legal mandate for citizenship education. School & Safety carries out this work in collaboration with the MBO Council, SLO, and ProDemos, with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. We offer our expertise to schools in primary education (PO), special education (GO), secondary education (VO), and vocational education (MBO) by, among other things, providing information and advice and facilitating knowledge exchange. We focus primarily on school boards, school leaders, coordinators, and teachers.
You will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your role will focus on providing primary, special education, and secondary schools with the best possible information about the legal mandate for citizenship education and inspiring them to effectively design their citizenship education programs.
To achieve this goal, the Citizenship Resource Center utilizes various resources, such as conferences, webinars, podcasts, and our website. The website is the go-to source for answers to all questions schools may have about citizenship education. We also provide access to teaching materials, publications, and professional development opportunities from other organizations in the field of citizenship.
Together with two other communications advisors, you will be responsible for day-to-day tasks, such as keeping the website up to date, producing the monthly newsletter, and managing our social media channels. In addition, you will be responsible for specific projects, such as producing (or commissioning) videos in which schools discuss their citizenship education programs, setting up a conference website, and producing (or commissioning) the annual magazine Citizenship in Schools. For these projects, you will work closely with the content specialists at the Citizenship Expertise Center, as well as with partner organizations and contractors.

School & Safety is a nationwide organization with approximately 40 employees across various departments: Operations, Advisory Services, Communications, and Knowledge & Partnerships. You will be joining the multidisciplinary program team at the Citizenship Expertise Center. This team consists of nine employees and is led by a program manager.
